Premier League Week 27: ‘It’s not over until it’s over’

Published on

So it was week 27 in this fantastic season of the Barclay’s Premier League with Manchester City boss Roberto Mancini stating the title race isn’t over until it’s over, and saying his side are still in with a shout of catching neighbors Manchester United who won 2-0 away to QPR whilst City won 2-0 against Chelsea. The Blues slip to 4th following some Gareth Bale brilliance to earn Tottenham a late win over West Ham.

Arsenal Vs Aston Villa

Two sides struggling at the opposite ends of the table, Paul Lambert said it was the ideal time to play the Gunners and he thought they had snatched a draw Andreas Weimann scored after the hour mark to cancel out Sani Cazorla’s opener however the little Spaniard was on hand late on to give Arsenal a much needed win and pile Villa back into the bottom 3.

Fulham Vs Stoke City

A game that Fulham did dominate and was won 1-0 after striker Dimitar Berbatov won it with a spectualr winner midway through the first half, and Jon Walters also missed a penalty for the Potters, who are starting to slowly slip down the table…

Manchester City Vs Chelsea

Well… Things just go from bad to worse from Chelsea, reports of team rifts with Beneitez were strongly denied by the Spaniard who just doesn’t really have a clue and Chelsea are just going backwards in what is turning out to be a nightmare season which he still has time to turnover with possible success in the Europa League and FA Cup however two very good goals from Yaya Toure and Carlos Tevez gave City a good 2-0 win and afterwards under fire boss Roberto Mancini insisting United can be caught, surely not though?

Newcastle United Vs Southampton

A early Morgan Schnederlin goal put the Saints ahead before Moussa Sissoko continued his good form by leveling for the Magpies , then on the stroke of half time Papiss Cisse struck a brilliant half volley to put Newcastle in front. In the 2nd half Ricky Lambert then put the Saints level again however a Yohan Cabaye penalty and a Greg Hovvield comical own goal won it for Newcastle who look like they have secured safety.

QPR Vs Manchester United

A brilliant strike from Brazilian right back afael put United ahead before Ryan Giggs put the game beyond doubt, as a person I don’t personally like Giggs however no one can deny what a talent he has been. As for QPR well it looks like Harry’s magic is starting to go and they need something special to stay up now… He has done it before though with Portsmouth but he also took Southampton down.

Reading Vs Wigan Athletic

Wigan always do it and I think they will do it again this year, staying up Roberto Martinez says is something they will do and he knows games like this are mus win, Arouna Kone scored 2 first half goals before Maynor Figuerioa put the tie to bed, Reading on the other hand are slowly dropping back to where they were standard and wise and need to win games qucikly.

West Bromich Albion Vs Sunderland

Peter Odemwingie got a mixed reception from the Baggies faithful who watched their side beat Sunderland 2-1 with two goals from Romelu Lukaku who is now really taking to life in the Premier League. Stephan Sessagon did pull one back for the Black Cats however West Brom held on.

West Ham United Vs Tottenham Hotspur

A game I really wanted West Ham to win and I though they had until late on. Gareth Bale continued his fantastic form by putting Spurs ahead before Andy Carroll converted the penalty he won to level and then midway through the second half Joe Cole put the Hammers ahead. With time running out Icelandic midfielder Gylfi Siggurdson finally scored his first goal for Spurs which looked like had earned them a draw, well Bale had other plans striking brilliantly to win it late on, he really is becoming a world class player, not the best but he is definitely up their.

Okay so that’s all for another week in the Premier League, the current table can be found here. So what do you think on Bale, world class yet or still needs work? Join in the debate here but until next week feel free to have your say below.
