La Liga Round 11 : Possibly Bye Bye Falcao!

Published on

Hola!

So welcome to the round eleven results and news in another exiting week of Spanish football, some big news including Lionel Messi who has now scored more goals in a calender year than the great Brazilian legend Pele and is chasing down another legend in the German forward Gerd Muller with his total at a whopping 85!

Messi had 76 so is nine behind as his incredible stats continue it has capped a fine few days as he also won the best attacker in La Liga award and became a father for the first time not bad so far I say! :)

The title says it all about the news on Falcao, he seems that he in bound for England heading to London with a deal apparently worked out with Chelsea. They plan to activate the clause of his €60 million contract and the player has stated he wants to move to the current European champions its sad news for Atletico who were having a great start to La Liga but not a huge surprise to anyone I would think.

If the deal is agreed he may be one of the highest payed players in England which may signal the end to former Atletico legend Fernando Torres, am sure that Atletico fans would welcome the Spaniard back home though! :)

So with that big news out the way lets have a look at the results from another week of La Liga action,

(4th) Real Betis 1 — 2 Granada (16th)

So what do I know eh!? I said Betis were having a great start and Granada were poor so I could only see a home win so was very shocked to see an away Granada victory! Great credit though it was a much needed three points for the struggling side but for Betis it would  be very disappointing after the great start they have made but they remain in fourth which is still an incredible start.

(7th) Rayo Vallecano 3 — 2 Celta Vigo (17th)

So Celta threw away a two goal lead away at Rayo who roared back thanks to a stupid sending off from Cabral, Iago Aspas has looked good so far this season for Celta definitely one to keep an eye on but may not be enough to save this Celta team this season.

(19th) Espanyol 0 — 3 Osasuna (20th)

So finally Osasuna played the way they know how with a fantastic away victory at Espanyol who have also struggled so far. It was a little bit of a shock scoreline as Espanyol did create chances but horrendous mistakes were punished by Osasuna who still remain bottom despite the win Espanyol are one place better both need to improve.

(11th) Real Zaragoza 5 — 3 Deportivo (18th)

So once again a good Depor performance was ended with silly mistakes that ended up costing them a two zero lead before conceding five times to improving Zaragoza. Eight goals to enjoy but with two poor defenses it was always possible as Depor slide back into trouble in the relation zone whilst Zaragoza sit nicely in mid-table.

Zaragoza 5 Deportivo Coruña 3 by jordixana

(5th) Malaga 1 — 2 Real Sociedad (13th)

So possibly the fastest goal in La Liga so far gave Malaga an uphill battle from the opening seconds! Just mistakes are costing Malaga in the league at the moment but with an eye on the last 16 of the champions league they will have their minds focused elsewhere but a great three points for Sociedad and much needed as they climb up the table to 13th.

Málaga 1 Real Sociedad 2 by jordixana

(8th) Real Valladolid 1 — 1 Valencia (9th)

So unpredictable Valencia strike again as they claimed a point at Valladolid but should have really taken all three, they are such an up and down side and after beating Atletico last week they had a great chance to make in a second victory but again paid the penalty and the points were shared.

Valladolid 1 Valencia 1 by jordixana

(12th) Athletic Bilbao 2 — 1 Sevilla (10th)

So another two of La Liga’s most inconsistent sides met and it was a very good victory for Bilbao, Markel Susaeta who scored the second Bilbao goal has just earned his first call up for the Spanish national team but for Sevilla it looks like another disappointing season ahead as they drop even more points.

Athletic Bilbao 2 Sevilla 1 by jordixana

(15th) Real Mallorca 2 — 4 Barcelona (1st)

Injury ravaged Mallorca are in free fall fall at the moment after making an excellent start to the season, they put in a good performance against the league leaders almost battling back for three down to claim something until the record breaker struck again. Far from perfect again from Barcelona but they have made a terrific start dropping only two points so far in La Liga and of course they have Messi. :)

Mallorca 2-4 Barcelona by goalsarena2012

(2nd) Atletico Madrid 2 — 0 Getafe (14th)

So Atletico’s strong start has continued having bounced back from last week’s defeat with a home victory over Getafe, Falcao was not on the score sheet and if you believe what you read he may be scoring less goals for Atletico after January as it seems a move is on the cards a massive loss to the home team but they have survived before losing star names so am sure Simone has another replacement lined up already!

Atlético de Madrid 2 Getafe 0 by jordixana

(6th) Levante 1 — 2 Real Madrid (3rd)

So finally an atrocious game to end! I mean the conditions of course as it rained so heavy that the ball just wouldn’t roll and the game boarded on the farcical at times as huge puddles engulfed the Estadi Ciutat de València with weather more suited to England than that of of Valencia! However Madrid survived the Levante scare to claim a hard earned victory to keep the gap to Barcelona down to eight points with Morata’s late header.

Once again that is that! The updated league table is found here as always with my previous updates found here.

Almost a big shock in Valencia for Levante but they just couldn’t hold on whilst Atletico continue strong but without their talisman Falcao will the mood in Madrid change for the worst now? Malaga starting to slide a little but seem more focused on Europe with Bilbao, Sevilla and Valencia all having an unpredictable time.

Whats your reaction on the possible Falcao move? I mean its only speculation at the moment but I for one would love to see Fernando back in an Atletico shirt! It may be exactly what he needs a return home so maybe a part exchange might benefit both clubs with Torres going home and Falcao of to London but I cant see that happening.

So that’s it as always thanks for reading and any thoughts or comments just pop them below and I will respond to then, until next time take care everyone. :)
