La Liga — February 2013

Published on

Hey everyone! :)

So first an apology for leaving my updates where they were its just I found it almost impossible to find the time to write them up each week with a hectic work schedule on hectic real life meant I had almost no time to round up the weeks and before I knew it I had missed three so had to figure an easier way that could allow me time to write just one update so here it is a month round up of what happened results wise in the Spanish top flight.

Am still thinking about layout and how to write this so bare with me as I will bring you the team most inform to the least and how they moved in the table from the last results in January, so here we go I guess!

———————-

Real Sociedad  P 4 W 3 D 1 L 0 Pts 10

So an unbeaten month for the Basque side who also added a derby victory to their points tally with victory of fellow Basque’s Athletic Bilbao, Philippe Montanier is deserving of his current praise as Sociedad continue their excellent season in La Liga.

League position end of January — 9th

Current position — 6th

———

Barcelona  P 4 W 3 D 1 L 0 Pts 10

Only one blip with a pretty good draw away at Valencia saw league leaders continue their form as they look forward to two El Clasico’s and trying to turn the away leg game in Milan back into their favour.

League position end of January — 1st

Current position — 1st

———

Osasuna  P 4 W 3 D 1 L o Pts 10

Another of the ten point club saw a remarkable turn around at Osasuna claiming a vital three wins to help boost their survival chances as they failed to lose in the month of February.

League position end of January — 18th

Current position — 14th

———

Atletico Madrid  P 4 W 3 D 0 L 1 Pts 9

Atletico continue to keep their title hopes alive losing only once away at Rayo, they have been knocked out of the Europa league but a possible cup final and a top four finish would still end an amazing season for them.

League position end of January — 2nd

Current position — 2nd

———

Getafe  P4 W3 D 0 L 1 Pts 9

An excellent month for Getafe who have well and truly put their horror start behind them as they have one eye on the Champions league forth spot which is heating up as a horde of teams are still in contention.

League position end of January — 12th

Current position — 9th

———

Espanyol  P 4 W 3 D 0 L 1 Pts 9

Incredible turnaround at Espanyol as Javier Aguirre is working a miracle it seems after the horrendous start they made, the inform team past few weeks ended with three more vital victories and survival.

League position end of January — 15th

Current position — 13th

———

Real Madrid  P 4 W 3 D 0 L 1 Pts 9

Shock defeat away at Granada was the only slip up made despite a fine performance from Deportivo the current champions fought back to win the match and keep the pressure on rivals Atletico.

League position end of January — 3rd

Current position — 3rd

———

Valencia  P 4 W 2 D 2 L 0 Pts 8

New Valencia coach Ernesto Valverde has stabilised the club a little after being so incosistant all year, however with an unbeaten month they look now to compete for that final champions league place but have work to do overturning a couple of away goals against PSG.

League position end of January — 7th

Current position — 5th

———

Malaga  P 4 W 2 D 1 L 1 Pts 7

A side struggling to find some consistency which will be needed if they want to claim fourth place again, but having problems with UEFA over a mounting debt, a loss in Portugal in the champions league and a stuttering league form Malaga have lots to do to hold a top four finish.

League position end of January — 4th

Current position — 4th

———

Sevilla  P 4 W 2 D 0 L 2 Pts 6

Another new face in Unai Emery claiming two victories and two defeats but both losses were away at Barca and Real Madrid so he will be very pleased those games have gone this season, outsider for a top four finish inconsistent all season so far.

League position end of January — 11th

Current position — 12th

———

Granada  P4 W 2 D 0 L 2 Pts 6

A better month for Granada with a few wins to help boost their survival chances, still a long way to go but six points is a good return in February.

League position end of January — 17th

Current position — 16th

———

Real Valladolid P 4 W 1 D 2 L 1 Pts 5

Just starting to struggle now Valladolid after having a really good season they should have just enough to be safe but will most likely end in mid-table which will do them fine.

League position end of January — 10th

Current position — 11th

———

Real Betis P 4 W 1 D 1 L 2 Pts 4

Another side struggling a little is Betis until a terrific victory over Malaga kept their incredible champions league dreams alive, however face so much competition and are losing form so need an improved March.

League position end of January — 5th

Current position — 7th

———

Rayo Vallecano P 4 W 1 D 0 L 3 Pts 3

Rayo had such a food January but they responded with a very poor Feb and as such they have lost a little in confidence but despite that are having an incredible season, the top four dreams are still alive even though they only claimed one victory a super season so far.

League position end of January — 6th

Current position — 8th

———

Celta Vigo P 4 W 1 D 0 L 3 Pts 3

One victory but not enough as the pre-season favourties for relegation slip into the relegation places, they have been struggling for a while so will need a huge improvement if they want to stay in La Liga.

League position end of January — 16th

Current position — 18th

———

Real Zaragoza P 4 W 0 D 2 L 2 Pts 2

A side heading in the wrong direction and fast, they had a pretty good 2012 but so far things are declining and they now hover dangerously just above the relegation places.

League position end of January — 14th

Current position — 17th

———

Real Mallorca P 4 W 0 D 1 L 3 Pts 1

Very very worrying times at Mallorca no win in five and so many defeats they look like a team that wont win another game again this season, new manager same old story relegation could be a real possibility.

League position end of January — 19th

Current position — 19th

———

Levante P 4 W 0 D 1 L 3

Another side heading the wrong way but having such a good time in the Europa league they probably wont mind too much that their league form is slipping but the top four is still a real hope but with their form they wont be challenging for it.

League position end of January — 8th

Current position — 10th

———

Athletic Bilbao P 4 W 0 D 1 L 3 Pts 1

Bilbao are in trouble and in real danger of maybe getting relegated which would be a disaster for Spanish football, they are one of only three clubs to have never been relegated (Barca and Real Madrid) from the top flight but they hover very dangerously above relegation and with a horrific amount of goals conceded , worrying times ahead.

League position end of January — 13th

Current position — 15th

———

Deportivo P 4 W 0 D 0 L 4 Pts 0

Bottom of the table and bottom of the form table spells very bad news for Depor, very spirited fight against Real Madrid but sadly not enough fight this season and remain bottom of the league and show no real signs from moving from it.

League position end of January — 20th

Current position — 20th

———
