This FM 2016 player profile of Sergi Samper shows a true maestro, very much like Andrea Pirlo sitting in front of the defence spraying the ball around. Samper is limited in his role, don’t expect bullish tackling, breaking play or forcing himself through a sea of players with the ball. Samper is simply a fantastic deep lying playmaker, he may lack speed, aggression, work rate and bravery, but he is a finesse player. In my test save the Spaniard developed 17 technique, 17 passing, 19 first touch, 18 vision, 17 composure, 16 teamwork and 18 decisions.

If your system plays out from the back and needs someone to hit a fifty pence piece from 50 yards, you’ve found your man. An acquired taste but fantastic value for money in the right system.
