This FM 2015 player profile of Aymeric Laporte shows one of the best young central defenders in the game, already top class at the age of 20 but with some potential left as well. Athletic Bilbao want to hang on to him at all costs, they don’t want to negotiate below the 31 million minimum fee release clause. However, I reckon that if you manage to unsettle him you might be able to get him for a reasonable price.

In my test save no club managed to take him away from Bilbao, so he remained there until 2022. He managed to break into the French national team though, making 18 caps.

His development might have been affected by the fact that he wasn’t allowed to move clubs. He still managed to develop 18 for marking though, good tackling and excellent positioning and anticipation. He also became solid on the physical side, good in the air, strong and also reasonably quick. He can be the central defender that you need if you manage a top European club.
