Darren’s media analysis of FMS Patriots

Published on

Hey guys, with the FMS community game well under way I took it upon myself to do some media analysis. We have a video with a few key players and analysis across the board. I will present this to you in the third person, talking from the media’s point of view and its for a bit of fun. Hope you enjoy.

SKY SPORTS NEWS, Paul Merson: 6.7.2010

The football world was turned on its head last night, Scunthorpe FC went bust and cease to exist! This is the first time such a well known club have gone completely out of existence and questions are been asked from all corners of the FA. The big question from many fans was who will take their place in the NPower Championship?

Now this is where things get really twisted. Many of us know the management simulation game called Football Manager, the creators have become well respected not only in their own field but also in the real world of football. Well…the FA held meetings with the creators of Football Manager about forming a team and the possibility of playing Championship football this season. Sports Interactive were all for the deal, but with one catch. They would be the clubs owners, but the day to day running and squad members would be selected from one of their gold affiliate websites….and this great honour fell upon…FOOTBALL MANAGER STORY!

BBC FOOTBALL, Gary Lineker: 2.8.2010

The stadium and facilities are all in place, these were purchased from Scunthorpe. Now FMS Patriots have designed there kits, badge and hired all the back room staff. Even the playing squad has been assembled in the most unusual fashion. Newly appointed manager, Jake Lenahan, posted a sign up sheet on the Footballmanagerstory.com website. Obviously the response was overwhelming and FMS Patriots now have three full squads, the first team, reserves and U18’s.

Most surprising though, is the level of talent young Jake has unearthed. The likes of Manchester Utd and Arsenal are already trying to poach from the newly formed club, it really is a fairytale start for the online community. While potential doesn’t always lead to success, I think other Championship clubs should quake in their boots. The BBC have prepared a video showcasing the FMS Patriots most important players, you can see this by clicking the link below.

FMS Patriots video — must see!! (click this link to watch)

The nation is already falling in love with this fairytale club and their rise from nothing. The above video has already attracted more than one million views on YouTube and counting. One thing is for sure, any neutrals will be backing the FMS Patriots to glory and this neutral is no different. After watching the club through pre-season, I have a fair idea on which players can shine and below is my predicted best XI.

GK: Vaibhavc

DR: Plobdork

DL: G

DC’s: Sea & Sears

MC’s: Adam Johnson & Dami

RW: Pepper

LW: Jon Crosby

ST’s: Darren Smith & Rodrigo

A very exciting starting XI and to be honest, there’s a number of talented players that could make the fold. Lenahan expressed a desire to rotate his squad and even include reserve players from time to time. I have dropped in on the odd training session and below are three names we may not see this year, but should look out for.

Sibo (DMC/MC) 17 years old — Currently resides in the U19’s, but this Scottish midfielder could be a real star. I reckon Sibo will light up the EPL by his 20th birthday. My only concern comes in the form of Sibo’s pace, this is an area requiring improvement.

Billy (CM) 17 years old — In a similar mould to Sibo, but enjoys a better understanding of the game. Again I have concerns over his pace, but focusing on this during training could make the difference. Billy can light up any match with his flair and has the making of a supporting midfielder. I honestly believe this kid will be even better than Dami.

Ollie (DR) 18 years old — This kid was born to play right back. He already possess the right skills in the departments required, and will be world class if he can clean up on the rest of his game. A year out on loan wouldn’t do any harm and it also might be an idea to train Ollie in the CB role too. I look forward to seeing how Lenahan nurtures this youngster.

OK I think we can leave the post there for today, I will look into doing more of these should everyone find them interesting. Please leave some feedback below, this post is very different and I’d like to know if you guys enjoy this sort of thing. Anyway, thanks a lot for reading and see you soon. :)
