Bury FC: Pre season report of Season 2.

Published on

Hi everyone, hope you are well!

After having a successful 1st season incharge of Bury, it was time to plan ahead for the club. I started by asking a few requests from the board, both were rejected! :-( I wasn’t even given an option to discuss new training facilies! And they rejected the relaying of the pitch straight away. :-(

Start of season expectations

I stupidly forgot to save the start of season expecations screenshot. Anyway, I told the board that I can achieve Promotion, and they icreased my wage budget to 33k, which previously was 20k.

Transfers in/ Transfers Out

Lets start with the players that left the club. The big name that stands out is definately Danny Carlton who was our top scorer last season. He contract was up at the end of the season. You may remember him entering a very bad patch at the end of last season. We definately couldn’t afford that again! Also, he wanted a new wage of 2.8k! That’s a lot of money for our club! I also personally thought his attributes are not good enough for League 1.

Now I’ll explain new transfers in positional order. I tried to think to the future as well with the signings. By this I mean, players that can be good enough in the Championship also.

Our new goalkeeper will be Martin Hansen, a player that you should know quiet well, as he features for Johnny & Kevin’s team in their game. He will replace 19 year old keeper Richie Branagan who was the most improved player of last season in the Bury FC squad.

We signed three new defenders in the window. Duccio Innocenti can play anywhere in defence apart from LB. Despite already having Guilaume Norbert for RB, I couldn’t reject him. His Determination & Influence will be vital for us this season. He is physically very fit for 35 years of age. His wage is ony £875!

Kevin Long was another defender that came in this window. However it is only a season long loan deal from Burnley. He will take Marco Teani’s place and will partner Sam Sodge at the back. He is technically very good for defenders that play in League 1.

Last but not least, our third defender is Dennis Cagara who is a Danish Left-Back. Him and Martin Hansen should provide good company for eachother (both danish). Cagara spent around 12 weeks on trial at our club in the previous season. When i tried to sign him, he was asking for a high wage, around 3.7k. However in pre-season, his demands were reduced a lot. His physical attributes impressed me alot! I think he is good enough for Championship standers also.

MIDFIELD

I decided to renew Robbie Brady’s loan after his successful spell last season. I think he will be good enough for League 1 standards also.

Our new RM will be former Birmingham and Wigan midfielder Daniel De Ridder. He is only 27 years of age and with the experience he has, he will be a brilliant player for League 1. Or will he not?

With Marcel Mahouve just turning 38, I decided to bring in a new defensive midfielder. Corry Evans, another loanee from Manchester United, will now play the role. He can also provide cover for the CB position if needed. He will partner Ali Fuseini in the middle of the park. I was suprised he actually accepted our club!

Michael Doyle was also signed. He can play in both central midfield position, defensive and attacking.

Forwards

Andy Bishop was the only forward remaining from last season. Therefore i bought in three new forwards.

Davide Pettrucci is the best of them, but he is more suited in the AM role. When Man UTD released him, i had no hesitation but to snap him up! He is the highest valued player in my squad at 375k!

Marko Maletic was signed on loan from parent club Man City.

Jason Euell completes our forward line, sining on a free transfer.

Pre Season

Pre season was pretty even, we lost against the team better than us and beat the teams level/weaker with us

Well, that concludes my post. I hope you enjoyed my new signings!
