Bury FC: February and March

Published on

Hi everyone, welcome back to my Bury FC story.

After sitting in first place with a two point lead, this is how the next two months went.

February

The month was one of them terrible month’s that you experience in the middle of the season. We won our first game against title rivals Rotherham, but then we had around 10 days off untill our next game so I organised a freindly against Celtic where i fielded most of my second team. We got thrashed four nil but we had an extra 100k in the bank which helped us to make a net profit of 30k in the month. We then lost our next two games which knocked us off top spot by Rotherham. Our next game was a hard fought victory vs Accrington and then we ended the month badly by drawing to Burton.

BEST RESULT

Has to be the one against Rotherham. Two vital points against title rivals.

Injuries, Injuries, Injuries!!!

One reason to this bad month was because of injuries. You may remember in our last month, where Rhys Murphy suffered an injury which sidlined him for 5 weeks, well Andy Bishop, another inform striker suffered a 5 week injury also in the Aldershot match. At first it was only a knock, but despite subbing him immediately, the injury became worse. This left me with two fit strikers, both suffering from ‘very poor’ morale. I had no choice but to bring someone on loan and I did. His name is Nick Blackman and he joined us from Blackburn on a 3 month loan.

In the same match against Aldershot, our inform creative midfielder, Ali Fuseini also suffered an injury. His injury kept him out for 6 weeks. Luckily we had a good enough replacement in Connor Henderson, also just returning from injury, be he hasn’t shown the form he did before his injury.

Manu and Norbert also picked up 10 day injuries which made our squad even thinner.

March results

March was much better. We were undefeated all the way through and only dropping points once. We just about scraped a victory against Stevenage where Andy Bishop scored a penalty in the 89th minute which gave us 3 vital points. You will see why in the league table ;-) We also secured a difinate play off spot but promotion was not confirmed just yet! After the good run of form I came second in the manager of the month results.

League Table

Well, we dropped to second place after being in first place through the whole season! Arrgh it’s soo annoying and embarrassing! However, there is six games for us to try and win the title which should really be ours!

So, my next post should hopefully conclude the season, where HOPEFULLY we win the title, but it’s really close!

Take Care, Sayam
