Bury FC: End Of Season 9

Published on

Hi everyone, welcome back to my Bury story and the conclusion of my 9th season, the lonnngggg 9th season! Did we win our 2nd PL title? Or did Arsenal retain their title? D

First of all lets starts off with our replay in the FA Cup quarter final vs Chelsea at Gigg Lane:

Wait…

For…..

It…. :D

A good victory and we were through to the Semi Final with a match against Norwich.

Some bad news after the game: Club captain Gino Kusters was to miss 3 weeks through injury and miss the AC Milan matches!

 April Matches

Well as you can see we are knocked out of the Champions League, I won’t bother explaining how we played or post screenshots. We wern’t good enough. Remember our game in hand? Well we lost that against Chelsea as they got their revenge on the cup defeat.

Which lead us to the match against Arsenal… The vital match of the season, the title decider?

League table before the match:

A win would put us joint top with a game in hand…

The Result:

Excellent results! Which puts us in pole position to win the title :D Just look at the stats and player performance:

Next three games — 1 game before the end of the season:

So the period started with me full of confidence and feeling that the title was coming to Gigg Lane. However despite winning that match we suffered two injuries, both strikers, Fabio Fiorentino and Sergio Araujo picked up an injury which would rule them out for the season :( However we have 4 qualitu strikers at the club and I wasn’t worried. But, we lost the next two games! How could we!!!! Have we lost the title? Not yet as Arsenal lost their game vs Newcastle as we lost to Blackburn, so the title is going to go right to the wire, with both teams level on goal difference and points. Arsenal had the upper hand with scoring more goals though…

Bury vs Everton

NOOOO, we should have won this game comfortably! But even if we did, we wouldn’t have won the title as Arsenal won their game 6-0!

Anyway, thanks for reading!

Ahhh, wait don’t go yet, we still have one more match to play, The FA CUP final, a chance to win our second silverware this season, and it’s against Arsenal!

The teams:

A slight forced tactical change, and that is switching to 4-2-3-1 instead of our normal 4-4-2. As you know, both of our front line strikers were injured, and i couldn’t risk playing Stefan Meyer who has been woeful. Some good fortune for us as Arsenal had their start striker, Kadlec injured and Hamsik injured also. :D

Well I don’t know how we won the cup, but we won it! :D Look at how many times Arsenal hit the woodwork! I guess we needed some luck for once! ;-) Ze Carlos scored another goal in a cup final! The formation paid off, and I may actually switch to this formation for next season. Hmmm.

Player Ratings

Ze Carlos was our best player, brilliant defensively and offensively (corners lol)

I had plans to sell Antonio Quimbamba but in the final he picked up a 3 month injury which means he will fail a medical :-( I still have plans to bring in another RW

Thanks for reading!
