Bury FC: End of Season 7!

Published on

Hi everyone, welcome back to another update of my Bury story. This post will be long so go and grab a coffee if you want!

Anyway… Firstly, I’ll start off with cup results, and this time is the Euro Cup. You may remember when we beat Fenerbached 6-0 on AGG in the first round, beating my target of doing better in this years campaign than the previous one, well now we had to face Man City. A game we would be favourites for, a match which we have won many times. But… But.. it didn’t go all to plan:

The first game was terrible. Tactically, I got it all wrong. I gave to much space to Arturo Vidal, who got all three assists for their goal — all in the first half. Araujo continued his excellent form in Europe but it ended their for him as we were out of the competition. Nevertheless, we still completed our target of doing better than what we did in the previous season :D

Now that is out of the way… Onto the league results!

March

March saw us almost have a 100% record, but the 2 points given away to Blackburn could prove costly in our title run in. Especially with United being the next game, it could end our title bid at Old Trafford. But… My players gave an outstanding performance and after the game I was like «why didn’t you do that the game before!» :D

League table — March

So the dropped points against Blackburn didn’t cost us too much. We would have had a bigger lead if we won the game, but oh well. So the title was in our hands, did we go on to win it?

April Results

So, pretty easy fixtures their, and the title their for the taking. But we became stuck against Norwich which saw us lose two points when we should really be taking all three especially at this time of the season!

League table — Before last three games of the season

The two points dropped against Norwich proved costly, and with our last three games of the season against Chelsea, Tottenham and Sunderland, the bookmakers were on Arsenal’s side.

Chelsea & Tottenham matches:

Araujo Araujo Araujo! I love you! hehe, he single handedly won us the Chelsea game with a superb solo, starting from the left wing. (I’d upload it if my computer wasn’t slow) And then the Spurs match we should have won by much more. So 6 out of 6! And with our next game against Sunderland the title was ours to lose.

League table at this point

The big game — Sunderland

WE ARE THE CHAMPIONS! WE ARE THE CHAMPIONS! What a way to wrap up the title. Nothing can get more convincing than a 10-0 win! Araujo scoring 2 goals again! It’s been a great season, something which I didn’t expect. Remember my minimum 5th position? lol, it seems a joke now.

Final League Table

We won the league, and just, by 1  point! We equaled our 93 goals which we set in our second season in the PL. However the difference this season is that we have conceded 40 goals less.

Club Awards

Player Averages

Footballer of the year, Sergio Araujo was our best player, equalling Adebayor’s 41 goals which was set two seasons ago. Adebayor also bagged in 31 goals which was very unexpected. He is also a favoured personel at the club and since his contract is almost up, it may result in morale damage at the club :( Third position in footballer of the year Ronaldo is also our third best player. His contract is also running out at the end of next season and I may sell him this season. However from the above screenshot you can see how important he is for me and I may open contract negotiations even if he want around 80-100k a week, which won’t be bad for just one player. Club captain Gino Kusters is our best defender closely followed by Ze Carlos, Richards, Pedersen. Pedro may be sold, Carrera will definatly be sold, along with Guttierrez, Eduardo, Hector Alvarez.

How we won the league…

How did we win the league? We had the perfect spine and match winners. Lets go through these players again:

Luis Guilherme saved us around 7-12 points definatley last season and I have no regrets paying the 12m which bought him to the club.

Ze Carlos was outstanding in the central defence area and we looked weak whenever we were without him:

Fahri Aytac and Ronaldo were a dominant force in midfield, and both brilliant at defending and attacking which is a rare quality of 2 in 1 these days:

Antonio Quimbamba was an influential figure for us on the right wing:

And our monster up front was Sergio Araujo:

Finances:

Nice position for us in finances.

Man City Wage list screenshot request.

Wow, despite such a massive wage list Man City haven’t qualified for Champions League once yet in my save…

Lastly I will leave you with an Arsenal Job Offer. The legendary Arsene Wenger has retired! If this offer was from anybody else, then it was straight ‘no’ answer. But since it is from my supported club and the only club I would leave bury for, I would like some advice on what to do. The 138m budget is very tempting, so I will not continue my save untill you advise me on what to do. Howver I do feel this job offer has come too soon for me…

Anyway thanks for reading! I hope I didn’t tire you!
