Bury FC: End of Season 2! :-)

Published on

Hi everyone, todays post will conclude my second season incharge of Bury FC. I last left you at the end of February where we had a big lead in top spot, lets see if we got promoted and won the title in the end….

MARCH

We got off to an excellent start to the month with scoring four goals in our opening two games! All scorers were different! After these games I was very confident of getting promoted. We then went on to win against Brighton with youngster Ryan Mason scoring. The game against Charlton was pretty boring, and it ended in a draw. The Leyton Orient game was excellent and it made me happy also as Neil Morris, our 18 year old youngster scored 2 goals! Petrucci was the other scorer. Promotion was also confirmed in this month.

APRIL & MAY

The month got off to a bad start as we lost against huge rivals Rochdale. The fans wern’t happy!  We then won our next game against Colchester. We needed three more points to confirm Bury FC winning league 1. However a point was enough against Plymouth as Milwall slipped up. The next game against Walsall would be my 100th game in charge of Bury and we won in some style! We didn’t have a great end to the season, however I can use a small excuse of using promising youngsters in these games ;-)

Final League Table

Well we were one point away from reaching 100! Notice we only conceded 35 goals all season! Which is one of the biggest reason to the sucess this season! We also recieved 25k for our final position.

Final Player Averages

Now I’d like to single out a few players that deserve some praise in order:

1 — Ali Fuseini — Ghanian was bought in League 2 mainly as a back-up but he is now a key player of my team. Infact, the best player. He has the free role in my team and his 14 assists were an excellent contribution for the team.

2 — Kevin Long — This guys is good enough for PL standards. Just look at his attributes below. Kevin did lots of improvement this past year in training and I doubt I will be able to loan him again as he has just signed a long term contract with Burnley :-( He and Sam Sodje were an excellent partnership in defence this season.

3 — Sam Sodge — bought in League 2, he was a beast in defence last season. I’m pretty confident he will be good enough for the Championship. My coaches also think that.

4 — Davide Petrucci — Had a frustated start to the season with injuries, rubbish performances but turned up at the right time when Wellington Silva had left. I have also realised he is better at playing in CF role instead of CM/AM.

So thats the end of my long post, I hope you enjoyed our sucess.

PS: Congratulations to all Arsenal fans (inc myself :-) ) for the great win on Wednesday!

Take care, Sayam!
