Bury FC: A vital March 2018/2019

Published on

Hi everyone, I hope you are all well. Only a one month post today as March is a very important month for us this year! Firstly, lets starts off with the Carling Cup final, a chance for us to win our first cup of the season.

The Teams

Team news was that our main wingers, Vinicius and Quimbamba were both out with injury, and even Quimbamba’s back up, Alex, who has been in good form this season, was also injured. So 22 year old George Ford played LW, his first competative game of the season, and a pretty important one too! Quimbamba has now missed 3 finals in a row!

The Final Score:

Well things didn’t get off to a great start, firstly Everton were outplaying us and then George Petrache, our CB, was given a straight red card. Immediately i made a sub and took off Kevin Lorenz (CF) and bought Mathias Pedersen on (CB), who actally played quiet well. He was part of our league title winning team. Everton failed to make us pay and in the 119th minute, Ze Carlos scored a winner from a set piece! The cup was ours!

S0 the next 3 games after the cup final:

We showed some complacency in the FA Cup replay vs Swindon, however Araujo got us the winner. Araujo then bagged two goals vs West Brom and Fiorentino scoring a goal, like he has done all season. We have to play a replay against Chelsea as we drew. The good thing is we’re at home in the return match :D

Then came the vital match vs OM, OM are leading 3-2 from the first leg, where we gave a 2-0 lead away (d0h!)

An excellent performance from my team, as you can see in the stats. However, it did sgameem one of them days where we just couldn’t finish. Striker, Kevin Lorenz turned into a super sub and scored 2 late goals to confirm a place for us in the next aroudn. I was reluctant to bring him on in the first place! Thank god I did!

Quarter Final Draw

We’re going to have to face AC Milan in the quarter final and the dreaded attack of Yaya Sanogo, Alexander Pato!

The last game of the month was against Middlesbrough which turned into a comfortable victory.

The league table sees us joint top with Arsenal but with a game in hand. Could this be our year?

A quick look at the finances to end this post:

8m in debt, i’m sure that’ll change at the end of the season :D

Lastly, apologies for another late post, I planned this post to be posted by Sunday, but it just kept getting late and late.

Thanks for reading!
