Building FC Andorra Episode 6 | Tweaking towards the playoffs

Published on

After beating Mirandes in the last episode and creating our new look 4-4-2 diamond, results were mixed. Keeping the shape, but tweaking the instructions, Building FC Andorra Episode 6 sees us push towards a place in the La Liga Smartbank playoffs.

Over the next seven games, Andorra only won twice, tweaks were needed and needed badly.

The system dropped the passing to much shorter, but the tempo up to much higher. The idea was to have the player push the ball forward as quick as possible, but while prioritising short passes.

Four wins from for in December saw us pushing in the right direction. Including not losing in the first round of the Copa del Rey — although we did lose to Lugo in the second in Extra-Time.

Despite defeats to Ponferradina and Osasuna in the league, there were wins over Real Oviedo, Ibiza, Alcorcon and Malaga heading into the game against Almeira.

Off the pitch there was one big arrival, and we mean it when we say big.

Ryan Inniss is a 6 foot 5 centre-back. What do you mean we’re training corners all day?

The hope is the Trinidadian defender will not only make us stronger at the back, but also provide a bit of size and threat from set-pieces.

On this episode, we take on Almeira in the league — they currently sit fourth — so a win here would give us a great chance of sitting in the top five and a place in the playoffs.
