Ana – FM 2011: Cheonan, Season Two

Hi everyone hope you are well, for this post I will conclude the whole of my second season in charge of Cheonan. Last post was my first half season in charge this time I would be in charge of the whole season and set my sights for a playoff position, a tough objective but one I had to aim for.

Results At The Halfway Mark

So am still struggling to get a consistent run! Its win a game draw a game win a game draw a game plus a few defeats along the way. My side are very good at attacking but make so many errors at the back, and it always seem to cost us points which is pretty frustrating!

But also there was also bit of badluck along the way for example we shouldnt have lost the Changwon City game 4-0, they just had four chances and took them all we created more than enough just poor finishing let us down.

So despite our up and down form and failing to win back to back games we currently lie 6th in the table and still in the hunt for a playoff spot, 9 points from the top in a very competitive league isnt too bad and with the window opening I can bring in some fresh faces to help push for the top four.

Second Transfer Window

Like many places their are two transfer windows so again I tried to sign some better players to hopefully improve the squad for the top four push. I wont post all the players not much point as some are just slightly better than what we had before, but I will single out two players who I believe were our best buys.

Boo Young Tae

Target striker who is almost 10 years younger than the man he will replace! Good in the air and a decent finisher hopefully he can convert the chances that my side are able to create.

Bae Moon Ki

Another very decent player I think, he can play at either centre back or as a defensive midfield player which is where I will play him I think and he is pretty solid. No real weakness so hopefully can add a bit of power to my midfield in winning the ball back.

Results 21 Games Into The Season

So we managed to find our form a little! Our home form is very good and where we win most of our points, away however I feel we are a little to open so may have to be a little more defensive in order to pick up a few more away points. Six good wins and the hunt for a playoff position was on!

We were also taken over by a fans trust and they offered me a one year deal which I accepted, so my hard work so far wont go to waste!

Final League Games

The final games as we tried so hard to squeeze into the final playoff position, a good win against HMD gave us confidence but we failed to win at Suwon despite being ahead in the game for the majority and the same story against Gangneung City as we led another lead slip.

We were very luck to beat Yongin on the final game, this time my side got the luck as they created so many chances but our aging striker Jung Kwan Ming pounced on a mistake at the back to seal a very good away win.

The Final League table

So we made it! We had a really good run and we ended with a positive goal difference. League is very tight with eight points seperating 9th from 2nd so I was more than pleased to have sealed a playoff position and a chance of promotion.

Only one side can get promoted so we still have a few games to play in order to get the K league! Our opposition were Korea Railroad who finished top and we probably got the hardest draw, to make things worse we also would have to play at their stadium so a really big ask to win.

Playoff Semi-Final Result

Hmmm, well beaten in the end and it could have been alot worse! We were very poor as the scoreline reflects and to be three zero down after 25 minutes it was pretty much game over. They just outplayed us all over the pitch and we struggled to string two passes together we did hit the post! But that was as good as it got i’m afraid so another season in the N league is our prize!

So thats it for season two, hopefully this was easy to follow and not too long to read! I tried to make it as short and as informative as I could so to summarise I was really pleased, the core of the side is pretty good and all I need is a few flair players to add to make the squad a real force.

My scouts are out and have already found one or two pretty good players so will post them next time! My goal is to once again push for the playoffs, I now know my team is good enough to finish in the top four and with one or two signings I think I can finish their again and maybe even go one further!
