Ajax: Pre-Season 2009 (do-over)

Published on

Hello friends and welcome to my Ajax story….again. Before I go any further with Ajax let me explain. It is never advisable to play this game whilst having a sinus infection, looking at new homes and trying to file ones Canadian Income Tax Return for 2009 all at the same time. Consequently the game was inadvertently deleted so now I’m finally recovered from everything I’m starting over.

Some of the following will be as before though I was unable to re-create exactly as previously posted. Also although I live in Canada I’ll keep all the transfers in British Pounds as it more meaningful to me.

So in looking at the Ajax first team squad I was already happy with what was available but took the advice of my Assistant Manager Danny Blind  to seek out a left back and  perhaps a left midfielder. Danny’s suggestion was to go with a Brazilian named Eduardo from Botofoga.

As for the board of directors they were expecting me to challenge for the title and handed me a £4million transfer budget for new players.

I secured my first transfer of the season after a long drawn out affair with Botofoga who eventually let Eduardo go for £2.3 million.

My next signing was a 16 year old from Italy and is familiar to many of you and that’s Marco Verratti. The whole Ajax set up is dominated around Youth Players so I felt Marco would be a good fit for the club.

My final signing was Nacer Barazite who I got on loan from Arsenal for the season and will replace Kennedy on the right flank who I sold to Aston Villa.

So July turned out to be a very quite transfer market for the club with just three players leaving for other  teams. I’m hoping with just a minimal amount of new players that team harmony will remain good and everyone will easily adapt to my tactics.

I’ve already received several bids for Suarez from a host of Premier League clubs but so far I have not been tempted to sale him even though the bids are rising.

I was happy with the pre-season results and the way the team was playing though Suarez was having difficulty in scoringbut his partner up front Sulejmani was having no problem at all.

We managed to get through pre-season without any major injuries and so the season proper will start away to FC Groningen and there’s the prospect of a difficult game against PSV in the middle of the month.

So that’s it for now and thanks for reading this for a second time.
