SV Wehen: The Set Up

Published on

Hello friends and welcome to my new story which features SV Wehen Weisbaden of the German Third Division (lowest league available) who from here on in I’ll refer to as just SV Wehen.

My knowledge of German football is next to none aside from the obvious in Bayern Munich etc though what drew me to Germany was a) real life performance in the World Cup by young players and b) every team seems to have a good youth set up with an academy.

In this story unlike my others I’ve set myself a few ground rules in terms of playing the game so as to add some interest and perhaps a little difficulty as well. Aside from Germany I’ve loaded up Holland, Austria and Switzerland, all as playable as these countries border my team and so I figure I may be able to send some scouts there.

So here are the “rules”

  1. Hiring of staff to be done by placing an advert in the job centre.
  2. All new players signed must be recommended by staff either from the staff meeting option or discovered by the scouting team.
  3. Can only look for players in countries which fall within the Boards directive.
  4. Develop my own tactics and training
  5. No use of filters.

These rules are perhaps a little tough but it’s the way I’ve decided to play the game this time and is by no means meant as a suggestion or criticism of how other people play. I needed to shake things up a bit after the disappointment of losing my Huddersfield save a couple of weeks ago.

The first thing I’m taking a look at is my staff and immediately I can see that I need to improve my scouting team of which I’m allowed six by the board and also my Physiotherapists could be replaced as well

On the coaching side of things I could do with improvements in all areas so it looks like I’ll be busy down at the job centre placing adverts.

As for the Wehen squad itself I won’t go into any detail now but may single out players along the way as I’m anxious to get things going with them. The team pretty much meets the needs of the formation I wish to play which is a 4-2-3-1 and will somewhat mirror my Huddersfield tactic which was Fluid and Attack minded based with cross balls being drilled. With Wehen though I’m going to play through the middle as opposed to down both flanks

Here’s where we play our home games at the Brita Stadium

So that’s it for the Set Up and my next posting will feature The Build and the Pre-Season results.

As always thanks for reading at it feels good to be back.
