The new Premier League season kicks off three days from now and I’m sure you all are very eager to see the teams in action again. I know I am quite curious to see an improved Arsenal for instance. I have tried to list all the pre-season transfers in the Premier League in this post, even though some last-minute moves are still possible.
I have arranged the teams considering the odds for winning the title, that’s why Manchester City are top of the list, since the bookies see them as favourites for the title this season. And I guess the bookmakers are right this time. The Citizens have made just one signing this summer, something unusual for a club that used to spend fortunes during each transfer window. However, they got Jack Rodwell and that’s a pretty good investment in my view.
Manchester United brought in jut one big name, and that’s Dortmund’s Kagawa . A good player in my view but he might need some time to adapt.
Chelsea have made quite a few interesting moves, the squad quality has increased and the average age has probably gone down significantly. Eden Hazard will surely be one to watch while Oscar and Marko Marin could become exponential players.
Last but not least, Arsenal have moved a lot better on the transfer market this summer compared to last year. Podolski is a great signing, a striker that always had a good scoring ratio, while Cazorla and Giroud are pretty good players as well. However, I think that Arsenal ‘s biggest signing is Jack Wilshere , the midfielder that has missed the whole last season due to an injury. If he can step back up then Arsenal could well be the dark horse this season.
Liverpool and Tottenham are the outsiders and I doubt any of the two could mount a serious title challenge.
