La Liga Round 15 : The New Record Breaker!

Hello everyone!

Can you believe its so close to X-mas I guess time does fly when you are having fun! This weekend of La Liga as the title suggests is about Lionel Messi and his incredible feat of scoring his 86th goal in a calender year! He amazingly has a few extra games to try and increase that total and the records for him and his team continue to fall.

These achievements are always met by people turning it into ‘but he still isn’t the best player ever, someone else is’ or some under mining what has achieved by silly comments I have read from some other people on different sites and instead of responding with my usual lets say determination! I have thought to focus on the main thing an amazing football player in an amazing team breaking an amazing record so well done to him! :)

So with that record out the way am sure he is already eying up the next one, a true inspiration to any young footballer. Now onto the roundup of the weekends football in Spain with a few shocks and a few close games in a weekend dominated by that man from Argentina (and Columbia! ;))

(19th) Espanyol 2 — 2 Sevilla (11th)

The home side was seconds away from their first victory under new manager Javier Aguirre who have picked up two points since he took charge after a terrible start to the season. Sevilla have hinted that players will be sold in January to ease the financial crisis as they remain in a mid table position, for Espanyol the point moved them of the bottom but still in the relegation places.

(9th) Real Sociedad 1 — 1 Getafe (7th)

Two good sides having to share the points with yet another late drama! Two goals in the final few minutes earned both teams a draw but still a good result for Getafe who look a different team from the one that started the season.

(4th) Malaga 4 — 0 Granada (18th)

Granada continue to struggle as Malaga finally found some form after a Champions league game, with the home side safely into the last 16 they made light work of a struggling Granada team low of confidence allowing Malaga to re-take fourth position as they begin to look strong once again.

(8th) Real Valladolid 2 — 3 Real Madrid (3rd)

Real remain third after twice coming from behind to beat a spirited Valladolid side, Ozil the hero as Valladolid continue to go well and still remain in the top ten.

(16th) Osasuna 0 — 1 Valencia (10th)

New manager Ernesto Valverde over saw his fist victory as the new Valencia manager as the ever reliable Roberto Soldado struck the winner, a poor game but an important victory for the away side who will hope to improve over the next few games and start to climb the table.

(6th) Levante 4 — 0 Real Mallorca (17th)

Mallorca’s terrible run of defeats continue as they were well beaten by a rampant Levante team, the score line could have been even more as Mallorca show little signs of their excellent start of the season run but a good win for the home team who are in sixth and looking good this season.

(13th) Athletic Bilbao 1 — 0 Celta Vigo (15th)

Aduriz’s fine season continue as he scored the only goal in the game against Celta, another game that wont live long in the memory but a vital win for the home side.

(2nd) Atletico Madrid 6 — 0 Deportivo (20th)

Fabulous Falcao struck an amazing five goals as Messi stole the headlines on his amazing achievement! The inform Colombian impressed the world once again with a devastating display of finishing as the home side put last week’s defeat to rivals Real to the back of their thoughts with a rampant victory over the now bottom club Depor, next up for Atletico is away to the top side Barca.

(5th) Real Betis 1 — 2 Barcelona (1st)

So finally the record breaker! The game itself though was poor for a Barca fan as its fair to say that luck was with them as Betis struck the frame of the goal three times but the away team did also miss a whole host of chances as once again Real Betis impressed despite of the defeat, but the game was about one player so I will let him have that moment of glory again!!

So there we go!! Another exciting weekend of action with the headlines deservedly going to Lionel Messi who just keeps amazing everyone with his goal scoring records. The table hasnt changed much with Barcalona still leading the way followed by Atletico who can close the gap when the two teams meet this weekend. Real Madrid remain third five adrift of their cross town neighbours with Malaga back into fourth place.

Deportivo now lie bottom of La Liga as Espanyol climb off thanks to two points in two games with Granada making the relegation places complete, Real Mallorca hover dangerously above after an atrocious run of defeats but the whole table as always can be found here, and a history of my past updates are found here so just click them!

Its hard to talk about anything else than one man, but I feel its worth to write about him as his record breaking antics are just amazing in modern football its hard to say is his the best of all time as its impossible to try and compare the past with the present, but its easy to say he is the best player of his generation already a Barcelona legend and not even 26 yet, amazing!! :)
