Mexico fans celebrated an emphatic 7 – 0 win at Estadio Azteca this afternoon. The game will be remembered for a remarkable display of goal scoring from Mexico’s Javier Hernandez.
Player Jonathan Portillo showed a sign of things to come though as he nearly gifted Mexico a goal on 4 minutes. Striker Javier Hernandez got Mexico off to a flyer by scoring a tidy finish on 4 minutes.
Winger Pablo Barrera doubled Mexico’s lead with a deftly executed finish from close range on 16 minutes. Barrera added his 2nd goal of the game with a deftly executed on 27 minutes.
Hernandez added his 2nd goal of the game with a placed shot from close range on 46 minutes. Hernandez added his 3rd goal of the game with a placed shot on 51 minutes.
An error from El Salvador’s Geovani Escobar allowed centre-back Hector Moreno to score a fluke goal. An error from El Salvador’s Cesar Menendez allowed Hernandez to score a fierce shot.

So next up Canada who are currently the holders of the Gold Cup which is a cup that I need to win! So this should give me a boost of confidence that we can do well in the Gold Cup!
As you can see below Mexico are favourites to beat reigning Gold Cup holders Canada!
Here is my first eleven to face Canada;
So according to a well-known source “Goal.com”
They said “Mexico have got to be favourites for this one. They have been impressive at home recently and I expect them to have too much for Canada.”
Prior to the match in the hotel I told each player I expect you to win this match! (Team talk – I Expect a win)

Second half –
74th minute — Jonathan Dos Santos makes way for Carlos e Vela

Full time
Mexico 0 – 0 Canada
Guys that was just not good enough! Canada showed they aren’t no pushovers today! Up your game for next time!
Mexico could count themselves highly unlucky to only draw in their World Cup North American Qualifying Section Third Phase match at Estadio Azteca.
Mexico had a number of attempts at goal but their profligacy meant they didn’t score as many as they maybe would have liked.
So that’s the end for this update, as you can see I am now managing Mexico and we have got a great squad to play around with! My next update will be the Gold Cup group stages where we will be playing El Salvador, Jamaica and Netherlands Antilles.
Last of all, I’ve had the chance to write a side story to this Ultimate National Challenge and it is with my favourite club Fulham Football Club.
