Jon — SFC: Premature Ending

Published on

Hello all, and welcome another pseudo-update of my Stenhousemuir story. We’ve run into a bit of a speed bump with the story, as a result of some computer issues. For those of you who followed my Salisbury City story, you’ll recall that I nearly lost the save due to a nearby lightning strike that fried one of my two hard drives (thankfully I had a backup and was able to recover most of my progress). My second hard drive has been carrying on as normal until yesterday, when my desktop failed to turn on after I returned home from a weekend away. After extensive testing, I was able to determine the hard drive as the point of failure.

Fortunately I didn’t lose any critical personal data (which I back up regularly), but my Football Manager files are toast. At the time of my last save, I’d guided SFC to a 3-3-7 record in the First Division, and we were sitting 8th on the table. We were dealing with a minor injury crises (both of my first team keepers were injured within a day of each other), and we looked set for a season long relegation battle (but not before upsetting Premier Side Morton in the League Cup, only to be demolished by 3-0 by Celtic in the next round).

Next Steps

This leads us to my next steps. I thought I’d try something a little different this time. Rather than picking a team on my own, I’m going to leave my fate in your hands. Leave a comment letting me know which country or club you’d like to see me manage. If you have a specific club in mind, definitely mention it and I’ll take a look at it. I’ll go with whichever country/club seems to have the most support. I’m bummed our Stenhousemuir story is coming to a close before it even began, but I’m looking forward to the next game!

(FYI — I’ll be playing on my laptop for the time being, and will be backing up my FM saves onto Dropbox after every session. I will *not* lose another game or save to some stupid computer malfunction.)
