The best approach is to have specialized coaches for each training category, that way you would be able to get the most out of their abilities. For instance if you have a good attacking coach don’t waste his talent by putting him on the defending training category and so on. Here are the coach attributes that are essential for each training category:
Strength — Fitness, Determination, Level of Discipline, Motivating
Aerobic — Fitness, Determination, Level of Discipline, Motivating
GK — Handling — Goalkeeping, Determination, Level of Discipline, Motivating
Tactics — Tactical, Determination, Level of Discipline, Motivating
Ball Control — Mental, Technical, Determination, Level of Discipline, Motivating
Defending — Defending, Tactical, Determination, Level of Discipline, Motivating
Attacking — Attacking, Tactical, Determination, Level of Discipline, Motivating
Shooting — Attacking, Technical, Determination, Level of Discipline, Motivating
You will be able to see how effective your coaches are by the number of stars that are shown for each of the training categories like in the screen shot below.
The stars are calculated through a rather complicated formula, I wouldn’t advise you to calculate those yourselves. Fortunately there is a great little tool that can help you with that: the FM Coach Calculator. You will just have to enter the attributes and the program will tell you how many stars that coach would get for each training category.
The program can be downloaded by clicking on the image below, it will redirect you to The Dugout forums where it was initially posted.
There you go, I hope this will help you to manage your team better and drive your club to glory. By the way, I have just re-opened the forum with a new design and better functionality, I hope we’ll be starting some nice discussions in there about FM 2011 and football in general.
