Hello there players and fans, welcome to the last update of the season in the fascinating FMS Community story! As you well know, it might have been announced on CNN as well, we had almost secured promotion to the Premier League at the end of March so I promised you that every player will get some first time football in the remaining matches. We only needed two more wins to secure the title and I was 100% sure that we were going to get them regardless of the first eleven. So let’s see how things went…

The first match in April was against 9th placed Portsmouth and I’m sad to report that it started with an unfortunate event, Von Karma was stretchered off the pitch and the injury was quite serious — 6 weeks on the sidelines, season over… Things got even worse as we conceded a goal on the half hour but you lads reacted well and we managed to turn things around before the break courtesy of a fine finish from Alex and a spectacular free kick shot from Liam101 (you should definitely watch that goal!). The second half started brightly as we doubled the advantage thanks to a sneaky shot from the edge of the area by Judast but our bad luck continued as Jenko came limping off the pitch (2 weeks). We were down to 10 men but that didn’t matter too much, Kap scored a fine goal on his debut and the title was just three points away! (Click here to watch the highlights.)

Next up, a tricky away game at 8th placed Doncaster. The first half was fairly pleasing but we were unlucky as both Jimmy and Cruickshanks were denied by the woodwork. Things turned a bit ugly shortly after the break as Doncaster managed to take the lead at the end of a fine move but our reaction was fierce: first Jimmy powered home on a cross from Jean Paul Borg, then added another one from a good assist by Ross Gilchrist and finally completed the hat-trick on his debut! Mission accomplished, title secured! :) (Click here to watch the highlights.)

We were playing for fun at this point and we surely had quite a good time against Watford. Darren Smith kicked things off with a sensational goal (that goal came second in the Goal Of The Season ranking later on), then Bushy took advantage of a mix-up in defence to make it 2-0 and Pepper added another one minutes later after receiving a beautiful pass from Bushy. We were playing beautifully and the goals continued to flow and Smith completed his hat-trick before the break by nodding home a corner kick cross from Dully before converting a fine pass from Hazza. The second half was quite boring, Watford bagged a consolation goal on a corner kick but that didn’t stop us from grabbing the 12th consecutive win! (Click here to watch the highlights.)

Back at home for the next match, 13th placed Crystal Palace were coming to the slaughterhouse ;) Well, it wasn’t another demolition job unfortunately but we still managed to snatch the three points. Jean Paul Borg opened the scoring on 15 minutes as he headed home a good cross from Srujun Gupta  but the visitors made it all square two minutes later. The winning goal was scored by Jimmy after the break, Liam101 provided the assist. (Click here to watch the highlights.)

Next up, a trip at 21st placed Coventry. We started on the wrong foot as the home side took the lead early on but we found an equalizer pretty fast, it was Kap who fired home from inside the penalty area. Coventry were reduced to 10 men after a professional foul on Matt but we were unable to capitalise on that advantage. The game was heading towards an undecided finish but just when the referee was preparing to put the whistle to his lips Pilgrim bent in a perfect corner kick cross and Yank headed home at the near post. (Click here to watch the highlights.)

Back at Patriots Park for the last home game of the season, 14th placed Norwich were coming to keep us company. Things didn’t start too well as captain Sears had to leave the field due to an injury (not a serious one though, just a couple of days), but then we took the lead through Rodrigo who finished off a counter attack. However, our performance was not too good and Norwich stole a share of the spoils courtesy of a corner kick goal after the break. (Click here to watch the highlights.)

Finally, the last game of the season: away at 6th placed Bristol City. Our opponents needed the three points quite badly and although they didn’t show much in the first half they managed to take the lead on a counter attack after the break. That goal obviously did something to Darren Smith, he started to score and the referee had to stop him at some point! :) Our star striker bagged no less than four goals in around 20 minutes but the had to thank MRNDRA and Dezmo for providing the assists on two of those efforts. We ended the season with another spectacular win, nicely done lads! (Click here to watch the highlights.)

We have 110 points and scored no less than 142 goals, that has to be some sort of a record!

Since we’re moving up to the Premier League, here’s a look at the top flight table so that you can prepare for the challenge ;)

Awards

Darren Smith was named Championship Topscorer of the Season but that’s not all, his 33 goals is a new record!

Four of our lads were picked into the Championship of the Season and I have to say that they represent the backbone of the team: Vaibhavc between the sticks, captain Sears at the heart of the defence, spectacular Dami in midfield and killer Darren Smith in attack.

And Jake won the Manager of the Season award, a well-deserved one considering the awesome team that he has built.

Last but not least, captain Sears had a few kind words for the gaffer after winning the title :)

That’s how our season ended, I guess it couldn’t have gone any better. Unfortunately we had two injuries that ruined the celebrations, G out for a month and Srujun Gupta out for 4 months… But don’t go away, we still have a second page with reserves and under 18s results along with some very interesting international reports.

Go to the next page to read the rest of the story.

Kap was instrumental against Bradford Reserves but we had other players that bagged the goals: Alex (2), Liam101, Bmwdestroyer and Wolfman.

Alex did well again in the next match while MRNDRA also got his name on the score sheet.

I’m pleased to report that the reserves team ended the season with a demolition job, Kap bagged a hat-trick while Samlar, Alex, Jimmy and Bmwdestroyer turned on the style and managed to score too.

Needless to say, we won the reserves league as well!

The under18’s did pretty well too, they started with a 4-0 win with Yank, Jimmy, Bmwdestroyer and Ross Gilchrist doing the damage. Ollie was the man of the match.

The next game was even more impressive, Jimmy bagged four, Bmwdestroyer added two and Ross Gilchrist also scored…

The last game of the season brought another win for our youngsters, braces from the usual Jimmy and Bmwdestroyer and another goal from Gilchrist secured a nice 5-1 win.

I guess you already know that, we won the Under 18s league too! Too bad they don’t have a kindergarten league, I’m sure we would have won that one as well! :)

Club News

The future looks great, the board are spending some money on the infrastructure…

International Reports

This is the part some of you were waiting for, enjoy!

That’s it for now lads, I am proud to report that I managed not to ruin Jake‘s hard work. He is back from his vacation and I’m sure that you’re all happy to have him back as your manager ;) I’m sorry that I haven’t managed to rotate the players more, some of you would have deserved more first team football, but I hope that Jake will be wiser and better on that aspect.
