Alright boys and girls, this post will see the Patriots fight it out in the month of October!
Last time out, the youngsters from Scunthorpe managed to hold a top half position with a last gasp win against fellow promoted side Nottingham Forest, and another in the form of a dominant win against Sunderland in front of the home support. We were really pulling our weight against the big boys, which I was quite surprised about really. Although the loss against Manchester United came as none, we managed to fight them for the victory and in all honesty I could see us getting a top 8 position this season on these performances alone. Hopefully we won’t be another Hull!
Anyway, we had to do the business on the pitch and the first game was an away trip to Wolves. Fortunately things went swimmingly for us and we were ahead within 22 minutes! A McLean knock on from the right hand side falling to Pepper. 18 yards out, he made no mistake as his blast it into the far corner. Wolves were trying to come back into it though, and before the half they could have been level if it wasn’t for the heroics of Vaibhav in the FMS goal. Dully grabbed one after the half as he nicked in from a Crosby corner, and with the Patriots 2-0 up, they coasted to the win as the home side were forced to shoot from outside the area. Good dominant win from the lads today.. (Click here to see the highlights)
Next up was a home game from another Midlands side in the form of Aston Villa. Hopefully the lads could get a result as Villa were breathing down our necks to try and hunt us down at this early stage. I didn’t even need to tell Dami, as he knew exactly what we needed.. Brilliant control and vision inside the area to slam the ball into the top corner and give the home fans something to shout about. Villa did grab one back a couple of minutes later from a corner, but that didn’t dampen the spirits of the home fans as a flurry of shots came close and gave me some real entertainment! Second half it was much of the same, and it was only until a freekick that we managed to break the stubbornness of the away side. Crosby the architect, Sears (who else..) the finisher. Seeing out the rest of the game looked a walk in the park for FMS meaning that when the final whistle blew, we could add another vital 3 points to the board! :D. Still, it was another awful colour clash?!
Sort it out SI! (Click here to see the highlights)
A home day against West Ham was next. And you know what followed?
That’s right, another colour clash. This time, I could literally not make out who was who! Needless to say, the players couldn’t either and the match was dying for someone to do something. Everyone seemed so stale and to go into the break at 0-0 was pretty much unheard of for us. Honestly, I was shocked that my team talk didn’t work either and bar the odd entertaining foul and Upson‘s 90th minute red card, the game fizzled out into a bore draw with little in the way of chances. No goals? Front page news! (No higlights, so click here to see an amazing Agüero goal as he is our new signing..)
Last game of the month then, and it was against an Everton side that thankfully weren’t playing in claret and blue! It did though make out for grim viewing as the first half was scarce in the way of chances. It did get very hostile towards the end of the half, and I’m glad that the whistle went for the first half as the last 15 minutes saw no less than 6 yellow cards. Think some of the lads needed calming down from both sides! Although, their frustrations got to me as again we failed to capitalise on our chances meaning that the game fizzled out into a successive 0-0 draw. Still, it was points on the board and against a strong team like Everton you can’t complain :) (No highlights again, so click here to see an amazing Neymar goal)
That did leave our less than entertaining side 6th in the table! Couldn’t believe we were actually holding on to a top 6 position at this stage, and although the last couple of games haven’t exactly been up to scratch, the table speaks for itself. One word.. Chuffed :D

Reserve Games:
A loss for the reserves! Falling short really, with only Alex‘s measly consolation gaining some pride.
Another away day, another loss. Alex and Pilgrim getting on the scoresheet before suffering a heartbreaking 90+5 minute goal at the hands of Everton reserves.
Injury news now then! Only a couple this month (thankfully!):
You will all remember Johnny upgrading the facilities I’m sure. Well I’m glad to say that they have been fully completed! Hopefully we can build on this lot and get some major investment in them to make sure they are Premier League standard in the future.
Some international news to report too! Dezmo, Hazza, Bushy, Sibo and Majk getting on the scoresheets for their respective countries. Well done :D
And the award for Young Player of the Month goes too… Dully, and FMS (again)! Not a clean sweep this time but the award deservingly going to Dully for some outstanding performances.
Hope you can join us next month as we start by facing the might of Chelsea at Patriots Park as well as games against Spurs, Man City and Stoke! A very hard line up there really, and I would be surprised if we held onto a top 8 spot as we go into December. You’ll have to come back next time and find out though! :D
