2015 U20 World Cup champion and Bronze Ball winner
Sergej Milinković could be described as one of many potential FM 2016 wonderkids. A central midfielder with technique, shooting ability and aerial prowess towering in at 6’3″. Sergej should be an FM 2016 wonderkid after impressing both domestically in Belgium and Internationally in the U20’s World Cup for Serbia. Not only did he list the trophy but collected the ‘Bronze Ball’ award essentially making him the third most impressive player at the tournament. Rated ‘-8’ potential in the current game, I’d expect an increase for FM 2016, maybe to around -9 or a fixed ability to that effect.
Sporting ability seems to run in the family, with his younger brother, Vanja, who plays in goal already signed by Man Utd. His mother was a star in womens Basketball and his father played Football across Europe with some top clubs, so Sergej seems destined to succeed. Nailing down a first team place for Genk and then going onto star for Serbia as they won the U20 World Cup has really shone a positive light on such a bright prospect. Lazio recognized this in July signing the Serbian on a permanent deal.
Sergej Milinković Savić Genk stats
Belgian Jupiler Pro League 14/15: Appearances: 24 / Goals: 5 / Assists: 1
U20 World Cup stats
Serbia U20 2015: Appearances: 6 / Goals: 1 / Assist: 1 (Bronze Ball Winner and U20 WC champion)
What should we expect from this FM 2016 wonderkid? I’d expect a number of roles to suit but probably more holding like deep lying playmaker or central midfielder. Set piece ability should be good, while his passing, vision and other related attributes may be a highlight. I’d personally look to Fellaini for comparison physically, this guy can jump and head so a threat from set pieces both in and out of the box.
