It is being said that Ivan Cavaleiro is going to be the best player Portugal has ever produced. Now that is quite a statement considering the world’s current best player is Portuguese. Will he be the new Ronaldo or the new Quaresma though ? Regardless this lad is sure to be one of the best FM 2015 wonderkids available this year. When I watch this lad I can’t help but make comparisons to Sergio Aguero, not only has he got lightening pace and great strength, he has the technique and composure every top class striker needs. He had a flexible potential of ‘-7’ in FM14 but I’d expect him to get an increase for this years game.
Cavaleiro joined Benfica 7 years ago at the age of 13, and in 2012 made his first appearance for the Benfica B team. He made 56 appearances scoring 22 goals, making clubs around Europe stand up and take notice. He made his first team debut for Benfica in 2013, but has since played just 7 games and so he has moved to Deportivo in Spain this season on loan to get some first team football, and has already got his first goal. What makes Cavaleiro even better, is his ability to also play on the wing. His speed, trickery and control are similar to Nani on top of his game, meaning Cavaleiro could be a valuable asset in Football Manager 2015.
Portugal u21’s: Appearances: 7 / Goals: 6 / Assists: 1
What should we expect from this FM 2015 wonderkid? Someone who will be able to play both up front and on the wings equally effectively. Expect Cavaleiro to have lightening pace, combined with good finishing and technique which should make him a great poacher for your team. Also expect decent dribbling, composure, first touch, and flair which will also make him a v good player to have on the wings too. His flexible PA of ‘-7’ in FM14 will certainly be increased, you can expect a ‘-9’ or something similar this year, which would give him a PA of between 150 and 180 !!
