Well I guess some readers won’t see Andreas Weimann as a potential FM 2014 Wonderkid, that is understandable. What can’t be disputed is the need for this kid to be rated highly in FM14, much higher than the games predecessor.
Weimann began his career in Austria, as a youth product of Rapid Vien before Aston Villa acquired his services in 2009. Shortly after joining Andreas lit up the Aston Villa reserves and also showed potential on loan with Watford, especially during the 2011/12 campaign. The following season saw Weimann the shock first team inclusion for Villa. Taking the opportunity with both hands Andreas scored 12 goals and played almost every game he was available for, as part of a front three Weimann started from the right and cut inside to deadly effect.
Aston Villa recently tied the FM14 Wonderkid down to a three year contract, much to the clubs relief as both Spurs and Newcastle came sniffing. Weimann’s performances weren’t good enough quick enough for SI to show his true talent in FM13, but they have every chance to rectify that and make Andreas Weimann one of the top Football Manager 2014 Wonderkids.
Andreas Weimann Aston Villa stats 2012/13
Premier League: Appearances: 30 / Goals: 7 / Assists: 4
League Cup: Appearances: 6 / Goals: 4 / Assists: 1
FA Cup: Appearances: 2 / Goals: 1 / Assists: 1
What should we expect from this FM 2014 wonderkid? Much more than last year, that’s for sure. I think he’ll be natural as both ST and AMR, most likely enjoying the role of inside forward or advanced forward I should think. Great pace, acceleration and finishing among his better attributes and a bumper long shot ability is a must in my opinion.
