So here’s my new update as we enjoyed a really good run of results in January I was hoping to continue our good form into February. The month began with some dissapointing news involving one of my new players, goalkeeper Benjamin Gouget.
I failed to sign a player who wanted almost £2000 pounds a week and we just couldnt afford to get him, so I declined his request as he has been a very good player for me but now his morale is at rock bottom!!
Hopefully he can cheer up and get used to living in a beautiful country as he is my only real choice in goals for the time being.
Our first game was against Badajoz who were are the wrong end of the table and here is how the game went,
A crushing win despite giving away a couple of goals we made a perfect start ahead after four minutes when Germinale slid a perfect pass into Monroy who finished well for his first goal as a Coruxo player. Just before half time we were two up when Manu passed to Germinale and he finished well from the edge of the area.
It was Manu next up to score after a perfect pass from left back Jacobo and the same player produced a fantastic cross five minutes later to allow Carlos to rise and make it 4-0. We struggle from set plays especially corners so no surprise thats how Badajoz scored. But my team pressed on looking for goals and it was Manu who finished well after a great pass from Pacciardi then another corner routine undid my team so we defiantly have something to work on!!
Next up was a tough away game at Pontevedra who themselves were having a good season and the game turned out to be a cracker as both sides went looking for the win. We struck first after five minutes when a wicked Carlos cross was divierted into his own goal by defender Neru, but the home side were back in when Igor crossed for the unmarkerd Gerardo.
We re-took the lead on 42 minutes when Jacobo’s cross was met by Germinale to tap in but again we let our lead slip as we once again failed to deal with a corner and Igor finally turned the ball into our goal. However we were to have the final say when Germinale squared the ball to Manu as he finished to ensure another away win for my side.
The next game was against Alcala and to be honest was a pretty poor game however Manu took his tally to five goals in three games when he ran through after a great pass by Carlos to claim the victory.
The final game of the month saw us take on Montaneros at home and I was confident of a win in the snow! The game began well for my team and we took the lead on twelve mintes when the ever impressive Carlos latched onto a pass from the back to score with all the quality you would expect! But a Suker cross caused some hesitation at the back allowing Maikel to grab a point in another fairly drab game.
So another pretty good month for my side claiming some good away victories only the fianl game was a dissapointment but will still remain top of the league. Set plays mostly corners are the main focal point of concern as we simply conceed to many, so will try to address that in the upcoming months.
We managed to extend our lead to an extra point, seven clear of Pontevedra and right on course for winning the league. However we will NOT get promotion even if we win the league, as at the end of the season the top four winners in each division (1,2,3,4) all go into a playoff against each other, with the four teams that finish 2nd, 3rd and 4th. Its quite complicated but I will try to explain later in the season!
In March we have a couple of difficult fixtures especially away at Atletico B but also against Leganes who are the leagues top goal getters and we are second so it promises to be a game full of goals!! We also play two sides near the bottom of the league.
Despite missing a few games on international duty Carlos has been immense so far and currently leads the way in terms of goals with 20. A bargain on a free transfer he has been instrumental in where we are as his goals have been vital. Everything looks so good at the moment doesnt it! However a quick look at our clubs finances and there is definate cause for concern :
Having my own business I would be very concerned if my bank manager showed me my finances were like this! We sell out our stadium every game trouble is, its so small it just dosnt turn over enough money despite the crowds we are desperately losing money so hopefully the club can keep its head above water for the time being!
Lastly something that made me smile as I took a quick peek at how Barcelona were doing! And was so surprised when I saw this!! :
They have pretty much sewn up the league at the end of February! They also have won 24 out of 25 games! Losing only once away at Real Madrid they have also score 69 times in 25 games which about 2.5 goals a game!! Made me smile anyway! :)
So thats it for this month, hope you enjoyed reading and will get my next post up as soon as I can!
