Hi everyone, today I will bring you the start of Bury’s season in the Premier League! As you know, we got here in some fluky style by winning on penalties in the play off semi final and final. Most of you have predicted me to finish from 13+ after the summer signings so lets see how we got on!
Before I start, I bought a 16 year old regen in the previos window. I forgot to show him you in the previous post. He will be joining in two years time. Well here he is:
Well there he is, he has some amazing attributes for a 16 year old. Imagine him when he joins the club! Hopefully Bursaspor will continue to train him well. He is getting regular games for them at the moment which is a good sign! Oh yeah, he only cost us a small fee of 2m! :D
Premier League Results
Well the first game was away against Aston Villa. I actually thought we had a good chance of winning this game, but we were shown the cleaners! We got absolutely smashed! I think pace was the reason to this. The next game wasn’t easy either, home to Chelsea. Chelsea had a 2-0 lead before we even opened our eyes, however this performance showed me we could be in for a really successful season. Pedersen scored his first goal for the club and we could have easily drawn this game if we had taken our chances.
Then, we went on a great run of winning four games in a row! I have highlighted this part for you. Shaun Wright Phillips looks like a great signing for us! Already scoring 5 league goals, he isn’t known for a goal scoring winger but I have certainly turned him into one. We also had a cracker of a game vs Wolves where we almost gave a 3-0 lead away! OMG! 2 players got sent off (only one is shown in the screenshot due to lack of space) in the 87th and 90th minute. I have to say, that we should applaude them! They denied two goal scoring oppurtunities for Wolves! :D
The winning run ended as we drew against Everton 2-2, after being 2 goals down. Great fightback by my team! I have to say it is a brilliant point considering Laguardia and Linganzi were both suspended! We then welcomed Man UTD to Gigg Lane, i was hoping we get away with a decent loss but not a thrashing. Instead we were denied a point in the 5th minute of added time! :-(
League table
Blackburn are the suprising leaders of the Barclays PL this season. However we sit in a healthy position ourselves with a game in hand. 14 points from 9 games — I must say i am suprised.
League Cup Progress
On to the league cup now….
We are in the quater finals after pretty comfortable wins in all of our games soo far. Wright Phillips scoring in every round! We beat top of the league Blackburn on our way to the quater finals and had a two goal lead before it being cut to 1 in the end. I also feel we have a great chance of winning this competition! You will understand why in the below screenshot…
All remaining opponants are all easy apart from the last game in the above screenshot. One of Chelsea and Liverpool will get knocked out. Lets see if we have the mental belief to win this competition (which Arsenal didn’t :-( )
And now the squad ratings:
I would say all signing are a sucess. SWP and Pedersen the pick of them. I can also confirm Frank Lampard is good enough to play in the Premier League at 35 years of age.
I have to say I am suprised with two players, Alan Dunne, who was very inconsistent in the Championship has turned into a consistent performer in the Premier League! How does that happen!??! Andrea Gasbarroni, our panic signing last season can also play at this level.
Now I will sort in ‘verygood’, ‘good’, ‘okay’, ‘bad’ categories of my new signings. Note, players ‘okay’ categorie need more time to settle I believe.
VERY GOOD
1 — Shaun Wright Phillips
2 — Nicklas Pedersen
3 — Victor Laguardia
4 — Frank Lampard
5 — Kevin Long
6 — Amine Linganzi
7 — Paul Robinson
GOOD
1 — Hector Alvarez — really excited by this person’s potential
2 — Guilherme
OKAY
1 — Jamie O’hara
2 — Deniran Ortega
BAD
1 — Christopher Mfuiy — This person has already handed in transfer request! :/
Well thats it people, good start in the PL, a potential chance of winning silverware… It’s all good times at Bury FC. Only if the board were better! GRRR
