Hi everyone, time to bring you another update of my Bury FC story, this post will feature the results of November & December. Last time I left you, we had an excellent start to the Premier League and we also had a chance of winning the League Cup. Lets see how we did in both competitions…
Premier League Results
Our excellent start continued with three further victories. Pedersen scoring in every game! We then went on a bad run of only picking up 1 point out of a possible 9. Then we had a difficult patch of hard games coming up against the three ‘big’ teams. Suprisingly we won the game vs Man City, and what a way to end he bad run!
We then suffered back to back defeates against Liverpool and Arsenal. Both we played away from Gigg Lane. We then had a fairly easy opposition against Burnley, which we managed to just about win. The month ended with a bore draw against Villa.
Our first choice defender Victor Laguardia was injured against Leicester (you still don’t know the score yet) in the League cup quarter final. He suffered a nasty injury of a broken toe and is expected to be ruled up to 3 months. Therefore, we have been relying on 17year old Tony Roberts to replace him who was signed for 250k from Morcambe in July. He hasn’t done that bad at all to be honest.
Interest is high for Roberts as the big boys have shown interest. A ridiculous offer of 45k has been rejected from Man City. This offer was simply DISGRACEFUL
League Table
We sit in a healthy position of 7th however I doubt it will last long…
League Cup
A big game vs Leicester regarding the circumstances. A game we should really be winning, but it wasn’t easy at all! We were 2-0 down by 55mins and it carried on untill Nicklas Pedersen scored which gave us some hope. An excellent comeback was completed when Shaun Wright Phillips scored in the last minute. No goals were scored in extra time, which lead to penalties. You know as well as I do about my teams recent record in Penalty Shootouts so I was fairly confident ;-) Well guess what, we came out on top again!
This lead to us facing the favourites Chelsea in the semi final :-(
