Bury FC: Jan & Feb 15/16

Published on

Hello! Welcome back to my Bury story.

At the end of December, we had a great run of form which lead us to a healthy position in the league. We were also in the semi-finals of the League cup. In the Euro Cup we would play Stade Rennais in the first knockout round. Lets see how we did!

I also explained that a lot of clubs were interested in our players. Suprisingly no offers were given for any of these players! The only player that left was Ren Jun for 3.9m. He was signed for 130k a few seasons ago. A nice profit :D The cash will also be paid in installments which is good as we get etra income in the month :D

Two news players were signed, both from Valencia and both for a combined fee of 3m :D

Sofiane Feghouli

He should provide good cover for both sides of the midfield as SWP is too weak now for this league.

Premier League Results

So, a pretty difficult set of fixtures. Adebayor has shown signs of coming back to his best. The month started with a 4-1 demolishing of West Brom. Then we got demolished ourselves by Man City! We should have won the Burnley game, but didn’t :( United game, we never looked like winning. Finally! A victory against Blackburn. Then another defeat! Grr! then another demolishing, this time Arsenal, suprisingly as they are league run away leaders!

GREAT VICTORY VS ARSENAL!

League Cup

We wern’t troubled at all in the first leg of the semi-final as we came with a 2-0 victory with one hand on a place in the final. Emmanuel Adebayor and Ze Carlos gave us a two goal advantage. We suffered a scare in the second leg with a 3-2 defeat but we won on aggregate with a 4-3 victory. We were in the final! :D

THE FINAL!

We had a clean bill of health in our squad, no injuries at all, so I had plenty of options to pick from. These are the teams that were picked:

The result:

We won the cup! :D Emmanuel Adebayor, you legend! He is finding his form just at the right time. It’s pretty suprising we kept a clean sheet. If it wasn’t for my goalkeeper, we would have lost this game. He made some outstanding saves! Liverpool had 17 shots! And 5 clear cut chances! But didn’t score. OMG!

I was very pleased with the whole team performance:

Oh yeah, the league table of the premier League, If i showed you earlier, it would have given it away as we have automatically qualified for the Euro Cup.

Top 4 is 7 points away now, I doubt we will get it, the teams are much stronger than us.

Euro Cup

So our Euro Cup campaign ended very early :( In the first knockout round! Stade Rennais were much better than I expected.

FA Cup

After beating Colchester in the third round of the cup, we then faced Liverpool. This match was before the League Cup final. We beat them 4-3! This victory gave me an advantage for the League Cup final as I knew what tactics to play them with.

I’m sure you have noticed that our defenders score a lot goals. I finally made a good corner routine which seems to be working. I promised Sears that I will show a screenshot of my corner routine so here it is:

As you can see, only one player is set on far post duty. This means in a match he is almost alone with a player marking him. I order my corner taker, Petr Lastuvka, to cross it to the far post and usually we come very close to scoring. Since the player on the far post is one on one with the player marking him, it isn’t as hard for him to beat him. I hope this makes sense :D I also have noticed you need a good corner taker, when Lastuvka isn’t on the pitch, we don’t come close to scoring as the ball delivered isn’t as good, therefore it is dealt with easily. Oh yeah, credit to Darren who gave me some advice regarding his corner tactic on his old website.

Thanks for reading :D
