Hello folks, this is a quick update on one of the website’s features, the predictions contest. I have started it when the Premier League season kicked off with the intention of keeping it running until the end of the season and having lots of fun with it along the way. Unfortunately I think I am going to close it before the end of the season, let me explain why.
There were quite a few users that joined the contest at first and I was quite happy about that. After all, that’s the whole purpose, getting as many people as possible involved. Then the interest slowly faded away and we had just six people submitting their predictions last week. Since the contest does require some work from me every week (adding the results, the next fixtures and so on) I feel that it’s just too much to do for just six people. I have also paid a tidy sum to get the plugin that powers the prediction contest and I’m pretty sad that it didn’t work out.
What will happen next?
There are two possibilities: either there will be a significant increase in participants before the end of the month and then I will keep the contest going or, if not, it will be closed at the end of November with the participant that is top of the rankings at that time getting a copy of Football Manager 2011 that I will personally mail to him. I hope that you understand my decision and also hope that you will be using our other fantasy betting feature.
