This FM 2014 player profile of Bernd Leno shows one of the best young goalkeepers in the game. Unfortunately Leverkusen are hoping to make lots of money on him and they require 22.5 million at the start of the game, way too much if you ask me.
His future screen shot doesn’t show much progress so I guess some coaches and managers might have done a poor job with this lad, the improvements on his goalkeeping attributes are marginal and his reflexes went from 17 to 16. However, those attributes are still top notch and if you add the German-like composure and concentration you get a steely-eyed goalie that rarely makes costly mistakes.
The initial asking price drags the rating down though, he’s a solid player but I wouldn’t pay that much for a goalkeeper.

I bought him for Stoke in FM13, He was class. Goalkeeper of the Year about 2-3 years in a row. Only replaced him when I managed to buy a better regen.
He’s a great one for sure.
I’ll reccommend Marc-André ter Stegen from Borussia Mönchengladbach as an alternative, He is already a beast at the age of 21, and have the potential to become a worldclass player (scouted him with Barcelona) Hes pricetag is £ 7,5 million from start, but you can get him for about the same price as Bernd Leno
ter Stegen will be profiled, no doubt about that.
£21 million is pretty steep for a goalkeeper, and he doesn’t even have a higher potential than de Gea. If only I could knock some £5 million off his asking price.
Yep, he should be a great buy at a slightly lower price.
Ter Stegen was transfer listed after one season in my game as southampton so i would reccomend holding on for a season. Joined me for 9 mil.
That’s good to know, thanks for the info.
Leno or Koval – same money…?
Leno has slightly better potential but not by much, I’d choose the one who is cheaper. But if you want a sweeper keeper Leno is better in that role.
What’s the best goalkeeper you can buy in the game? Excluding those impossible to hire, btw I am with Man United.
It’s difficult to say which keeper is the best in the world but since you already have De Gea I don’t think you need another one.
Thanks, I’ll keep De Gea then. I bought Alex Sandro to compete with Evra, then I can send you some pictures when he’s 25.
