Rodrigo’s career history until 2018

Rodrigo is a superb striker. He tore defenses up in the Portuguese league so much so that Inter felt it necessary to pay £45 million him and he hasn’t disappointed. The step up in class didn’t seem to faze him as he scored 28 goals in 52 games which is lethal in one of Europe’s top divisions. He also has scored 15 goals in 30 appearances for a star studded Spain side. A simply top class player and you can get him for a decent fee, considering his talent, at the start of the game!!

Best buy rating: 10/10

My god! An absolute beast!! Just can’t wait until I can release him against the oppositions defense. Must be one of the best young strikers in the game?!

He is!! He will score goals, goals and more goals :D

What do you think of David Alaba of Bayern Munich? Will he be worthy of a profile? He was amazing last year, so I expect nothing less from SI..

    • comment avatar Jonathan Carver October 22, 2012

I am sure he will be done eventually, we have a lot of profiles to go through but I will put it on my to do list.

I expect him to have a high asking price so we are focusing on more obtainable players first but his abilty will warrant a profile so keep a look out!!

    • comment avatar Jonathan Carver October 27, 2012

I will give them a look when I get a chance, don’t worry, if they are good players they will more than likely get a profile from one of us!

A truly fit profile for this raw diamond waiting to be polished! Im proud to see a Benfica player profiled and especially with so much consideration! What about other players from SLB?Anyone else who deserves a place among the 2013 wonderkids?

  • comment avatar Rui Fontes October 29, 2012

Already played with Benfica in fm13 beta version and seems that Eduardo Salvio and Nico Gaitan will be top players

  • comment avatar A.buwe December 1, 2012

Is rodrigo efffective at deep lying forward (attack) as a back up for messi

  • comment avatar franjaneca January 11, 2013

I have an even better screenshot of Rodrigo, with him having much better attributes, including a wonderful 20 in dribbling.

  • comment avatar KW13 February 8, 2013

    POACHER = RODRIGO = GOALS

    9 Goals in 1 game = LEGEND

    nuff said…

  • comment avatar Roberto Carlos February 10, 2013

Just bought him for 18 million in my second season with Napoli, but i’m struggling to find the most successful roles to play both Rodrigo and Cavani in. Any idea what my best option would be?

    • comment avatar Darren Smith February 11, 2013

They are both very similar players that suit poacher like roles, but we can’t answer that without knowing the tactic etc, you must always select roles to suit the style and tactic, not one individual player.

      • comment avatar Roberto Carlos February 11, 2013

Yeah fair point. I have my tactic set that I don’t feel needs changed I play a 32212 formation (3cb, 2wb, 2cm, 1cam, 2st). I’ve found the left striker tends to do better when set as an advanced forward, which is the role i’ve played Cavani in from the start. I’m not entirely sure whether the partnership will work, but i’ll give them a chance and i’ll let you know how they get on.

Hi got a quick question for you guys. Do player valuations differ for club to club? In the screenshots above you could get him for £8 million but in my Liverpool save (13.3 patch) Benfica wanted £17 milliin for him at the start of the season. I manage to negotiate the price down to £14 million but it was nowhere near the price as shown above. Is there a reason why?

    • comment avatar Darren Smith March 10, 2013

Shouldn’t make a difference, especially seen as I bid with United who you’d expect to be held at ransom. The negotiation on this one is a little strange though, I just tried it again…offering his value, £6.5 million. Benfica negotiated to £19 million, then I offered £8 million and they accepted. Chances are you may have jumped straight to 14m when it wasn’t needed.

      • comment avatar Darren Smith March 10, 2013

Then again, I did just start a new save with Arsenal out of interest and what you experienced proved correct, so I have adjusted the profile to suit the higher asking price, thanks for bringing this too our attention.

  • comment avatar Illyas March 10, 2013

Yeah no worries. Anyway £14 million for him is still an incredible bargain. He’s a ruthless goal machine!

  • comment avatar CrazyNinja March 12, 2013

how are you getting him for 14mil? they always want more of me and i dnt offer 14mil straight away

    • comment avatar Darren Smith March 12, 2013

Are you bidding within the first month of a very new save?

      • comment avatar CrazyNinja March 12, 2013

on the very first day lol

        • comment avatar Darren Smith March 13, 2013

Not sure what you’re doing wrong then but I’ve always paid 14 or under…do you have Portugal loaded in the database?

          • comment avatar CrazyNinja March 14, 2013

if you mean a playable league then no

          • comment avatar Darren Smith March 14, 2013

I do, not sure then. I always offer his value, they then negotiate to around the 20 mill mark then I barter them down to 14m.

  • comment avatar CrazyNinja March 14, 2013

they always ask for 29 mil from me and i can get them down to 20 mil but thats all my budget gone, if i offer his value they just reject my offer. in the end i went for some one else

  • comment avatar armohawk April 12, 2013

I’m about to start my 4th season in multiplayer with Betis and I have Abel Hernandez as the lone striker. Would Rodrigo work well as an AML? He’s available and so is Luis Suarez (although both very expensive).

    • comment avatar Darren Smith April 12, 2013

I used him there with Newcastle, he was very good, not exactly prolific but still better than most…though he suits ST poacher better from what I’ve seen. Having said all that, if you only need an AML and he’s available, get him.

  • comment avatar Majestik June 10, 2013

What is rodrigo’s asking price for start of first season?

    • comment avatar Darren Smith June 10, 2013

Errr, doesn’t it say in the profile?

  • comment avatar Francesco July 14, 2013

Is he better than fierro?? if he’s not better than fierro, could he play as a winger, or is better someone else???
And who is the best deep lying playmaker (i was thinkin to verratti, pogba or crisetig…)???

    • comment avatar Darren Smith July 14, 2013

It depends where you are in game, if its the first three seasons then yes he is, but potentially Fierro will overtake him. Yes he can play on the left wing as an inside forward. All the players mentioned are good for deep lying playmaker, maybe go for Verratti.

  • comment avatar Francesco July 14, 2013

i forgot one of the best deep lying playmaker, Lucas romero… so among this 4 player who’s the best???

    • comment avatar Darren Smith July 14, 2013

Answer as above, again depends how they have progressed in game.

  • comment avatar Francesco July 14, 2013

i know, but i meant potentially… before i start (all) my games i plan my team, my staff, my tactic, etc etc… i do that since fm 09.
So the best deep lying playmaker is verratti or lucas romero??
    Thanks in advance :)

    • comment avatar Darren Smith July 14, 2013

I think Veratti but it also depends on your tactic. If the deep lying playmaker is purely for creative and link up reasons then the Italian for sure. But if he also needs to defend and make a tackle then Romero may be best in the long run.

  • comment avatar Francesco July 14, 2013

    thank you :D

  • comment avatar Konrad Exposito July 25, 2013

Would he work as AMR as IF attack?

    • comment avatar Darren Smith July 25, 2013

I wouldn’t recommend it, I would recommend sticking with the position he is accomplished in, AML inside forward.
