This FM 2013 player profile of Ricardo van Rhijn shows a promising ball-playing defender, a player with decent technique, good speed and very good mental attributes. His progress in my test save was quite substantial and that earned him two big-money moves: first he was bought by Tottenham from Ajax for 15.75 million and then was sold to Manchester City for a staggering 21.5 million. His only flaw is the aerial ability but if you can work on that in training you can turn this lad into a complete and rock-solid centre back. He can also be a valuable backup player for the right back (or right wing back) position.

Best buy rating: 8.5/10

Yeah, there’s pretty stiff competition for those two CB spots at Ajax.

Very good player, had him on an Ajax save and was integral alongside Alderweireld and Denswil at the back. One question though if i may. Would he be better playing at right back due to his lack of aerial ability or would you say he makes up for it in his other defensive areas?

That is an option, you can either work on training him as a right back, which should be fine, or use him as a centre back and work on his heading/jumping in training.
