This FM 2013 Player Profile of Francesco Bardi is probably one nobody expected. Mainly due to the fact he rarely ever develops under AI management, well a reader named Jacok took the punt on this wonderkid and came up trumps. He developed the young Italian into a very solid keeper, with only throwing and kicking seen as poor a weakness. Such was his development that Bardi still has many years to iron out those creases at just 23 years of age.

I think the average ratings while playing for Everton tell a story also, always above 7 and even managing 7.32 at the start of 2015, which is brilliant for someone stood between the sticks. Yes this keeper has weakness’, but they can be sorted and he’s probably the most solid potentially for the asking price of just £2 million.

Best buy rating: 9/10

Bardi’s a good keeper! I started a game with Inter and loaned him out the first two seasons. First season Handanovic filled in; second season I had Ospina play (came in on a free transfer, Udinese outbid me on the blind auction) but by the third season I alternated between Bardi and Ospina and Bardi played so well that I sold Ospina. Bardi’s been capped 15 times by Italy by 2018 on my save. Eventually, I sold Bardi to Benfica for 21m because I didn’t manage to fix his poor distribution.

Well he sounds like the perfect bargain in goal, as there are very, very few cheap options in that area. Even if he does a job during a transitional phase while waiting for a regen to develop he can provide a great profit if taken care of.

I bought this player from Roma quite a few seasons (something like 2020) in and he was exceptional. Bargain for £4m. He got capped for Italy quite a few times before i sold him on for a profit. I can imagine he would have been even better in my save if I’d got him earlier but sometimes getting bath to the prem takes, like a while. who knew?

He is a really good keeper and for the price probably the best in his bracket.
