Lamela’s career history until 2019

lamela c

When I first looked at Lamela’s attributes my jaw dropped. Amazing dribbling, passing, technique, flair, off the ball, pace and acceleration. All I can say is wow ! Those are just the things he has perfected, he has nearly mastered everything else. As we always say – anything he hasn’t yet mastered, you can train him on and make him even better. The price tag was high at first but after looking at the profile I bet you think it is well worth it !

Best buy rating: 10/10

Yeah, i want this guy now!

  • comment avatar TommyTomster123 October 20, 2012

Oh btw could you do a profile of Juan Iturbe from Porto, has loads of potentioal and is sorta simmular to lamela :)

    • comment avatar Ryan Daly October 20, 2012

      will have a look

  • comment avatar Darren Smith October 20, 2012

I’ll get hounded for saying this but Lamela is the closest thing to Messi I’ve seen on FM for a long time…he just needs better finishing.

    • comment avatar Tijmen Stronks October 20, 2012

His mental stats are to low to play as AMC at a top club, he’d do great as an AML or AMR i think!

      • comment avatar Ryan Daly October 20, 2012

his mental stats are actually quite good. I think he could fit into a big team very easy, but that’s just my opinion

  • comment avatar Niclas October 20, 2012

    Amazing talent!!
Btw. will you look at alex grimaldo and jetro willems?

    • comment avatar Ryan Daly October 20, 2012

Willems isn’t visible with the leagues that we have loaded, I will have a look at grimaldo

      • comment avatar Niclas October 20, 2012

Ah okay, i’m looking forward to grimaldo then! Should be among the best talents from 95.

  • comment avatar Daniel November 1, 2012

Will you do a profile of James Rodriguez?

  • comment avatar Carl November 9, 2012

    Quick question.

If you go into the editor and look at Lamela’s stats

His potential ability rating is only 175/200.

So how can he end up being one of the top players?

    Or am I missing something?

    • comment avatar Bjarne November 20, 2012

PA can change, it is fluid

      • comment avatar Darren Smith November 20, 2012

It is only fluid if they have a rating of -8 for instance, not a set number between 1-200…as for the original question, 175 PA is actually high, there are next to no players rated 190 and above so that PA is of a top player.

  • comment avatar Martin December 7, 2012

I was wondering why Bale isn’t included in the list? As far as I know he is second best to CR for the left side.
Also I want what is the criteria for this list? Age and quality or?
Because I don’t see many HIGH quality players.
    Thank you in advance.

    • comment avatar Darren Smith December 7, 2012

Bale is just another player with a high asking price and everyone knows how good he is anyway, if we have an outstanding profile we’ll report on him but we don’t yet. The criteria is simple, the player either has to have a brilliant future profile if they are expensive or show value for money.

      • comment avatar Martin December 7, 2012

Right. Was a bit confused coz many world-class players aren’t included but I got the answer now.
One more question, according to you who is the best ST?
The money and the age doesn’t matter, just who is the best overall.

        • comment avatar Darren Smith December 8, 2012

Messi, Falcao, Cavani or as a younger option Fierro.

  • comment avatar Cam December 19, 2012

This lad is absolutely brilliant, bought him in second season for my Liverpool save, who were league champs, and he is the highest goalscorer so far. I don’t think I’ve seen a player adapt to a team as quickly on any FM before.

    • comment avatar Asa December 24, 2012

      How do you play him?

  • comment avatar fahad January 2, 2013

Hands down my best signing, i play him as an attacking midfielder with support duty in an AMC role for my tottenham team. Adapts really quickly and is giving messi a run for his money in the year 2016.

    • comment avatar Darren Smith January 2, 2013

His is pretty exceptional, used in AML for my Newcastle side.

  • comment avatar lewis January 9, 2013

lamela or griezmann for the left side?

  • comment avatar Newbie February 16, 2013

Would it be Lamela or Willian? :D

    • comment avatar Darren Smith February 16, 2013

Depends on so many things, I couldn’t possibly answer that.

  • comment avatar Miles Smith February 26, 2013

He hasn’t really gelled into my team so he turned into a poor buy for me but he has also had a couple of good performances.

    • comment avatar Darren Smith February 26, 2013

He’s been awesome on the whole for me, though just recently in the KOF tournament he’s been sloppy.

  • comment avatar Robert March 26, 2013

Hard decision i would like advice on playing as chelsea hazard is AM (L) for the AM (R) Lamela as inside forward as this should be his best side or El shawraay

    • comment avatar Darren Smith March 26, 2013

I always say to play a player in his best position, so for Lamela that would be AML, ignore the fact he’s cutting inside.

  • comment avatar Robert March 26, 2013

Ok appreciated as i respect your opinion in that case would agree el shaarwary is probably best right winger/inside forward i could buy?

  • comment avatar Robert March 27, 2013

Thanks darren, and thanks to the rest of the guys that makes this the best and most friendly football manager site on the web :)

    • comment avatar Darren Smith March 27, 2013

No problem, oh and by the way I just noticed they changed Lamela’s favored position to AMR instead of AML in the latest patch. So Lamela is now the perfect inside forward for AMR as he is left footed also.

  • comment avatar Robert March 28, 2013

well looks like hazard and lamela will torment some defences for me hehe

    • comment avatar Darren Smith March 29, 2013

You’d certainly expect so, they’re both deadly.

  • comment avatar shay April 8, 2013

who is better lamela , draxler or yarmalenko?

    • comment avatar Darren Smith April 8, 2013

For me Lamela, but that would come down to personal choice and the type of player your tactic suits.

  • comment avatar shay April 8, 2013

ok as in i want an inside forward who will assist and score a lot of goals too… so lamela is the best??

    • comment avatar Darren Smith April 8, 2013

I would say so, but as I said it depends on the style of player that works with your tactic…players go deeper than a position and role, they have personalities and specific attributes and preferred moves…all of em would be good for that position and role but I like Lamela myself.

  • comment avatar shay April 9, 2013

k thanks…i just wanted someone able to change the game any time …like more goals and assists..

    • comment avatar Darren Smith April 9, 2013

Well he’s certainly a big game player.

  • comment avatar Disgea April 9, 2013

    In 13.3 version.
Who is better inside forward James Rodriguez or Lamela ?

    • comment avatar Darren Smith April 10, 2013

Depends on what you look for in a player, both very very similar but I prefer Lamela personally.

  • comment avatar MoxieInfinite April 19, 2013

Can I ask why this guy turns Spanish? For some reason he suddenly decided to play for Spain instead of Argentina. This have happened twice now, and I really wonder whym, as he doesn’t seem to have any relations with the country. I’m using the 13.3 patch.

    • comment avatar Darren Smith April 19, 2013

He is part Spanish, hence he can choose which nation to play for. Just check his information and nationality.

  • comment avatar Teit April 21, 2013

What do you think about his preferred move dwell on ball ? Some people says it’s bad preferred move if you play attacking football.

    • comment avatar Darren Smith April 21, 2013

Well common sense says he will take longer to make his move, so people saying its a negative for attacking football is very inaccurate, a player taking his time on the ball before making a move isn’t negative while using an attacking tactic, its just one way of approaching the play, if its meant to be a high tempo tactic then yes, but other than that I don’t agree.

  • comment avatar JackBauer April 24, 2013

This looks like an edited version of Lamela to me. Although he plays well, his stats never turn out that good in any of my games, especially at the age of 24.

    • comment avatar Darren Smith April 24, 2013

We don’t edit or touch profiles here, what would be the point!? So I assume your game must be the best he can possibly be then? All I can say is the screenshot you see above is with CPU management, so he could be even better with perfect development. Every game is different, guess the AI sucked at developing this wonderkid in your saves.

  • comment avatar ian May 4, 2013

@JackBauer. Of course this isn’t an edited version of Lamela, I’ve seen him turn out a lot better than that screen shot! I had him in a save and along with Isco he was the best player on the game.

    • comment avatar Darren Smith May 4, 2013

Thanks Ian, its frustrating to read comments like Jack’s, we put so much work into this site and to hear people tarnish it with cheating and pointless editing really annoys me so thanks for the backup on this one.

  • comment avatar matt May 9, 2013

guys ever thought about scouting clubs as well as players, for example rating them on chances increasing in size due to amount of excess fans how easily they attract new fans and chances of having stadium capacity increased or to build a new stadium

    • comment avatar Darren Smith May 9, 2013

Interesting idea Matt, it is something I’ve played with but the additional effort involved mixed with how much the readers would get from it always put us off. But who knows.

  • comment avatar lorenzo May 29, 2013

    Hey, guys!

I was wondering if it is a waste to train and use Lamela as winger? Since I’m using that Deepfried Chicken tactic I’m just a bit confused if it wise to use Lamela as a winger or does his talent/skill go to waste?

    • comment avatar Darren Smith May 29, 2013

That tactic has each individual players instructions set so the role isn’t fully reflecting a winger, that is just the closest the author could find. The player isn’t set to hug the line, he moves into the channels. I think he’d suit that tactic on the right TBH.

      • comment avatar lorenzo May 30, 2013

Ok. Thanks Darren. Will try him out as a right winger in that tactic then ;)

  • comment avatar jelly182 June 6, 2013

    Amazing talent!!
Btw. will you look at stefano sabelli, alessandro crescrenzi, luca antei, alessio romagnoli? i’m using as roma

    • comment avatar Darren Smith June 6, 2013

Most of them haven’t developed at all in my test save so probably not.

  • comment avatar dpk04 June 10, 2013

Nice player but i think the future scrrenshot is of the previous patch 13.0, would you by any chance posthe future screenshot of the latest patch of 13.3.0 or 13.3.3.

    • comment avatar Darren Smith June 10, 2013

We will when we get round to it, obviously we can’t update these future shots for every player and most haven’t changed in PA anyway.

      • comment avatar Darren Smith June 10, 2013

I’m updated the image now while I had chance, he has changed in terms of position as well so it was needed.

        • comment avatar dpk04 June 16, 2013

Thnx mate, brought him for 30 mill in my real madrid save, scored 2 goals and made 1 assist on his debut. Not a bad way to start.

  • comment avatar The big DAWG June 25, 2013

have a question….im playing 4-2-3-1 i have BALE on AML Hazard on AMC and LAmela on AMR all on attacking mode bale and lamela are wingers and hazard is atacking mitfielder….while hazard is playing like a mad man 10 games 8 goals 3 ass and 5 MOM lamela and bale are just terrible i set instructions for bale to cut inside but i doesnt working i can understand that lamela needs 1 year to adept to EPL but i was expecting better things from him….any suggestion? i will try and play lamela as inside forward

    • comment avatar Darren Smith July 24, 2013

Only suggestion is scrap the formation, for me it never ever works…at least one of the three players will get in the way, but thats just my opinion based on trying to use that formation in the past.

      • comment avatar Livo July 24, 2013

haha cant do that i have too many wingers (yarmolenko, oxleid chemberline ,mata, callejon, wellback on the bench) do you set your own instructions for lamela or just leave it as it is inside forward and that is it?

i wont EPL last year with this formation so it isnt bad for me

        • comment avatar Darren Smith July 24, 2013

You can still play two wide inside forwards with a 4-5-1, I personally leave inside forward instructions as they are unless they seem to be wasting opportunities by shooting from range.

I only suggested a change because you made it seem as though the formation wasn’t working, but if it is I’m not sure what I’m answering here. Either way, my recommendation is the change of formation, as you can pull the AMC back to MC as advanced playmaker and keep the two wide AM’s as they are.

    • comment avatar Diimaan July 25, 2013

My suggestion would be, use Bale as a Wingback and use Juan Mata as an Inside Forward. Who’s your right wing back and the two dm/cm’s?

  • comment avatar Konrad Exposito July 25, 2013

How’s Florenzi from Roma developed in your save?

    • comment avatar Darren Smith July 25, 2013

Good, he would be worth a bid if not too expensive.

      • comment avatar Konrad Exposito July 26, 2013

I’m Roma so I already have him and is he worth a profile?

        • comment avatar Darren Smith July 27, 2013

Maybe but we’re not profiling for FM13 anymore.

  • comment avatar Livo July 25, 2013

ST Advance FW (Iban 20 yrs,PA199/CA 135,regen) great ST

LW Bale AMC Hazard RW Lamela (inside FW)

MC Romulo (BWM) MC Mhkitaryan (Advance playmaker)

LB Cuenca (21 yrs, PA 200/CA 165, regen) CB Varane CB Luiz RB Azpilicueta

    GK Ter Stegen

Lamela is playing better with inside forward role..looks like it helps he will be even better next year when he is adopted to EPL…i cant play bale as a wing back cause i have cuenca there he is probably one of the best regens that i’ve ever saw in FM…..im dissapointed with Ter stegen some games he is fantastic but sometimes he is just mistake prone usless GK dont know why

  • comment avatar Dheeraj Shetty August 30, 2013

I have signed him for Chelsea and Dortmund, and in both the clubs he failed and I ended up selling him. I used to play him in AMR position and he was almost invisible during the match and his average rating was less than 7.

    • comment avatar Darren Smith August 30, 2013

Strange, I guess it also depends on how much game time you gave him before judging…ie if you made your mind up before he’d managed 15 matches then maybe it was too soon. Other than that I can’t understand why one of the best players would do so badly, unless he wasn’t playing in his favored role or had players in his way due to the tactic maybe.

      • comment avatar Miles 'Uni' Smith September 3, 2013

He struggled to really shine for me – ironically in my Tottenham save – but I was playing him out of position so it was probably my fault. Sold him for a fortune though so it was all good!
