David Alaba scouting report from Lawlor of Man Utd

David Alaba profile aged 27 in the year 2019

David Alaba career history until 2019

This FM 2013 player profile of David Alaba displays real versatility. Alaba is best at left back, developing wonderful mental attributes with pace, agility, acceleration and balance. But he can play MC equally as well with great passing, technique first touch. No matter where he plays this kid gets great average ratings, just look through his career history from my save above. £16.75 million is very reasonable considering you usually have to pay high fees for the best in the business.

Best buy rating: 9/10

Great profil Darren. Alaba is the best left back in FM13 in my opinion, so 16,75 m is cheap, but what are the chances he will leave Bayern? I guess you have to be a very big club to get him to sign.

    • comment avatar Darren Smith November 8, 2012

That is true, he won’t leave for just anyone, but I think the likes of City, United etc will have a good chance of signing him.

  • comment avatar Tijmen Stronks November 8, 2012

Biggest talent by far for DL! If you’re a top club and in need of a DL, he’ll be the best option.

    • comment avatar Darren Smith November 8, 2012

Agreed, a solid player and I think his average ratings do all the talking.

  • comment avatar chinczol November 9, 2012

Great player, but or better than Marcelo?

    • comment avatar Tijmen Stronks November 9, 2012

      In potential, he is!

      • comment avatar Darren Smith November 9, 2012

I think they are very different players so you can’t compare them.

  • comment avatar Bayern Munchen November 9, 2012

I really enjoy playing with Alaba as a left-back, he often runs far up the pitch and either assists or scores one or two. And he is awesome in defense as well. Wonderful player :)

    • comment avatar Darren Smith November 9, 2012

Certainly he is, its refreshing to have versatility in the full back positions.

    Great player!
What do you think of Andre Martins from sporting lisbon? Seems great at the start but I’m still in the beggining. Adrien is also quite solid.

    • comment avatar Darren Smith November 10, 2012

Andre Martins isn’t visible in my save so you must have to have Portugal loaded as playable.

  • comment avatar neolafifouze November 11, 2012

alaba is great, I have him and jetro willems on the left side with PSG. Won the CL first year withs willems, excellent both defnsively and offensively, would yoi consider making a profile for him? I think he can be as good as robinson was in FM 12

    • comment avatar Darren Smith November 11, 2012

We will when a good enough future screenshot is available.

  • comment avatar Jack November 13, 2012

got to the stage of having a contract accepted and then he failed his medical and signed for man utd on deadline day a month later. hugely frustrating

  • comment avatar Nick November 27, 2012

In my second season with Arsenal, thinking of getting rid of Andre Santos and getting a new LB in. Should I use this guy as 1st choice and use Kieron Gibbs as a back up?

    • comment avatar Darren Smith November 27, 2012

I certainly think so, if not Alaba then Alex Sandro.

  • comment avatar Jeraldo January 8, 2013

This guy if for sale in my game by ManU at 6mil I think. What can you guys say about his marking? Any advice as my full backs are not marking that good. Santon, R Taylor.

    • comment avatar Darren Smith January 8, 2013

TBH its not the players, most full backs struggle with marking consistently anyway, its the nature of their role.

  • comment avatar AzzA January 19, 2013

i got him at arsenal quite easily actually, found as good as he is he has some issues with authority, doesn’t take criticism well and tries to hold me to ransom if i disapprove of a performance. insanely good LB though

    • comment avatar Darren Smith January 19, 2013

Unfortunately a few of the top players can have an ego on the game, but he makes up for it in quality.

  • comment avatar henlaz January 21, 2013

keep scouting him in the vain hope he becomes available, munich want just the £80mil in my save :S

    • comment avatar Darren Smith January 21, 2013

Yeah, he is available cheaper at the very start of the game but I can imagine Bayern digging their heels in once he hits top form.

      • comment avatar Miles Smith March 4, 2013

I think part of the reason he is so cheap as well as willing to sign is that he starts the game injured.

        • comment avatar Darren Smith March 4, 2013

I could see that effecting the asking price but not his willingness to move.

  • comment avatar Dave February 11, 2013

whats best option to give him wing back attack or support?

    • comment avatar Darren Smith February 11, 2013

Depends entirely on your tactic, not the player.

  • comment avatar victoras15 February 14, 2013

i signed him in my 1st season with spurs for only 20 m euros , he is brilliant since 1st season

    • comment avatar Darren Smith February 14, 2013

He is certainly worth that sort of cash.

  • comment avatar Luciano March 11, 2013

got him on my 2014/15 season 4 only 4.4m. im playing borusia dortmund and after a match againt bayern munich where he perform ok i decided to send a scout just being curious i thought their asking price would be excesive and after all i didnt need any left winger. he wasnt very happy with the bayern current league position, but still it was weird they accepted the offer, he was gettin more caps than some old ribery and robben so it was a bergain :D

  • comment avatar Phioenix March 25, 2013

I have 2 other players that u might really wanna check- they’re called Andreas Cornelius and Leo. Andreas starts at FC Copenhagen and Leo starts and Rayo. They’re both attackers with pretty promisig attributes.

    • comment avatar Darren Smith March 25, 2013

We’ve already profiled Cornelius and Leo isn’t really good enough unfortunately.
