Ander Herrera scouting report from Lawlor of Man Utd

Ander Herrera profile aged 29 in the year 2019

Ander Herrera career history until 2019

This FM 2013 player profile of Ander Herrera shows one of the best young playmakers available. The Spaniard develops into a true maestro of the game, Herrera’s passing, dribbling, first touch, technique, flair and creativity all summarize his overall ability. If you want someone that can carry the ball forward, spot passes few others can even contemplate and a midfielder that can engineer a chance from seemingly nothing then look no further, oh and did I mention he’s available for £15 million.

Best buy rating: 9/10

Been looking forward for this guy, looks even better than last year. FM13 looks awesome.

Am a little disappointed with the price of most players though as they are just to expensive and with my team (Sporting Lisbon) I won’t probably have much funds.

Could you tell me if André Carrillo from Sporting is any good this year?

    • comment avatar Darren Smith October 30, 2012

Carillo looks decent but not great in my save, not sure if he can be better with human development but certainly never world class.

      • comment avatar Jonaskim95 October 30, 2012

        Thanks mate

  • comment avatar FRodri October 30, 2012

yes my team is FC Porto but i wanted to know if there is any player that increases enough to play for my team.

Darren, could you check on gnarby from arsenal and rony lopes from city? thank you

    • comment avatar Darren Smith October 30, 2012

Neither are visible in my save under that spelling.

      • comment avatar Ferdie den Boer October 30, 2012

The Arsenal player’s called Serge Gnabry actually, the city player I don’t recognise.

  • comment avatar FRodri October 30, 2012

gnabry that’s right. rony lopez is a portuguese player who played pre season for city.

    What about Atsu and Iturbe?

    Thank you both

    • comment avatar Darren Smith October 31, 2012

Gnabry isn’t any good and Lopez is not on the game.

  • comment avatar sikava October 30, 2012

Don’t you guys feel that there is a big difference in pricing for players in this years edition? Last year you could get really cheap players that grew to become world class, and I mean really cheap. This year they’ll be relatively expensive, even though their value is next to nothing. What’s your take on this?

    • comment avatar Darren Smith October 31, 2012

There is a difference but I wouldn’t say they are expensive, I’d say they are now realistic. SI have reviewed the realism of their asking prices so the younger players aren’t as cheap and the older ones aren’t ludicrous prices like they were previously.

  • comment avatar Walter October 30, 2012

Hey Darren, you guys should profile Tello! He’s less than 6 million pounds — but I am not sure if I should buy him or not…

    • comment avatar Darren Smith October 31, 2012

Not good enough from the evidence we have I’m afraid.

      • comment avatar Walter October 31, 2012

That’s a bummer, I just bought him for 5.75 million pounds.

If he ends up paying off, I’ll let you guys know. :)

i have a save in 2021 so if you want any future profiles i ca send you any, also i have a much longer list of wonderkids now

        • comment avatar Darren Smith October 31, 2012

Thanks but we’ll be waiting for the full game before going even further into it.

  • comment avatar Rui Fontes October 31, 2012

Hey Darren. Looks André Gomes and João Cancelo, both from SL Benfica, seems to be very good players in the future according with my scout. Will they develop into top players?

    • comment avatar Darren Smith October 31, 2012

Not visible in my save I’m afraid.

  • comment avatar orestis October 31, 2012

any chance of petrucci from man utd??

    • comment avatar Darren Smith November 1, 2012

He is decent but not deserving of a profile.

  • comment avatar Yankeejoshy November 2, 2012

Is aubameyang from saint etienne any good? He looks pretty solid both in real life and FIFA, but I havent seen him here…

    • comment avatar Darren Smith November 2, 2012

He is good yes, not the best wonderkid but a good one for sure.

  • comment avatar Dean Milly November 2, 2012

Not even gunna hesitate partnering him in the heart of my midfield with Adam Maher… hope they will go well together.

    • comment avatar Darren Smith November 2, 2012

I certainly won’t challenge you in a network game with that pairing!

  • comment avatar FCK November 30, 2012

Im in my 2nd season and I’ve got both Adam Maher and Ander Herrera. Do you think a flat 3-man-midfield with Maher as Advanced Playmaker and Herrera as CM Support and then of course with a BWM in the middle would work? Or are Maher and Herrera too similar? How would you play them in the same midfield?

    • comment avatar Darren Smith November 30, 2012

I’d use Herrera as Advanced playmaker, he isn’t good enough defensively to do MC support, and try Maher MC support instead.

  • comment avatar Cuco December 3, 2012

Kerim Frei is recommended! He is a beast!

  • comment avatar Tom January 13, 2013

Who do you think is the best Andrea Poli, Ander Herrara Or Rasmus Elm?

    • comment avatar Darren Smith January 13, 2013

Same as before, they are all very different players so I can’t really answer that, its like asking if cheese is better than ketchup, both would be used in different scenarios.

  • comment avatar Andy Thompson March 30, 2013

I Dont know why for the life of me Brendan rodgers Just doesnt go for Ande Herrera he has been amazing for my Liverpool and man utd’s tam i play him centre mid and he has 10 goals in 15 start plu 8 assists and 9 man of the match awards in the game if Rodgers had to splash 20 million id take it

    • comment avatar Darren Smith March 30, 2013

He is certainly a good player and one that would add something extra to Liverpool, but I think Rogers did really well this transfer window adding Sturridge and Coutinho who have brought a new dimension to the side.

  • comment avatar ReynoDeNavarra April 5, 2013

he’s touted as the next andres iniesta by spanish media, bought him for my real madrid save with 15 m bid, superb playmaker who can build possession, play simple passes and orchestrate the midfield, his preffered moves also short of Iniesta, incredible!

  • comment avatar Secotti June 20, 2013

he has “plays short simple passes” preferred move which confuses me a little.sometimes he’s being the best option for my midfield, but that little thing may make me a bit superstitious :S.what’s your take on this?doesn’t that effect his assist number some?or should i buy him without any doubt?same thing for strootman too.

    • comment avatar Secotti June 20, 2013

IMO that preferred must be created for some anchor man or central defenders who usually have 9-10ish passing..a maestro like him must crack his 40-50 yard killer pass in the blink of an eye, he is bought for that, not giving the ball back to victor wanyama who has 10 passing again and again. am i the only one thinks like that? and don’t tell me things like “sometimes players do some simple pre-passes, before starting the attack.” cause i know you got what i mean there

    • comment avatar Darren Smith June 20, 2013

Well he runs with the ball and players an advanced role so that is natural, he’s not a deep lying playmaker so would not need to make 50 yard passes. Unless you are using him in the wrong role and position you should be fine, otherwise retrain him.

  • comment avatar Secotti June 20, 2013

of course, he’s not a DLP .He is an AP and plays in CM so i think nobody will use him in another role or position.I just have never tried him because that pref move jigglez my mind.and retraining is a pain in the head,it’s not guaranteed to lose that, needs about half a season and severely slows the players progression.i think i will stick with other guys but thats just me, it’s only my superstition :D.

  • comment avatar Fajrin August 30, 2013

he is very good player, i use Athletic Bilbao in fm13 and he made my team won Champions League and win Uefa best Player

    • comment avatar Darren Smith August 30, 2013

He’s a real game changer that’s for sure.

  • comment avatar The don September 2, 2013

Certainly looks that way, will be interesting to see if he fulfills his FM potential.
