Yann M’Vila’s career history until 2016

This FM 2012 player profile of Yann M’Vila shows one of the best FM 2012 wonderkids. This 21 year old can really play, his physical attributes can rival even the best while M’Vila’s mental stats are the main reason for his massive average ratings. Not to mention he can pass, tackle and follow his opposite number. If you want someone capable of captaining your team, stopping the opposition in their tracks and then hitting that perfectly timed pass then look no further. M’Vila is worth every penny of the £27.5 million asking price. Thanks to Kev for the future screenshots (of which the CPU was manager.)

Best buy rating: 9.5/10

Hi Darren, great job these guides, I really like to read them!
But I have an issue, I need to choose between M’vila and Sandro. They are both great but I think Sandro is a little bit better!
I’m playing 4-2-3-1 and I have a deep laying playmaker (Ganso), so I need a good worker next to him. M’vila is a great passer, but Sandro has better defensive and mental attributes, so I don’t know who to choose?
could you give me a little help?

    • comment avatar Darren Smith November 21, 2011

Thanks mate, well I’d say that M’Vila can offer a lot more creativity and attacking intent but if its a real work horse you want, someone to break up the play then they don’t come much better than Sandro. I suggest rotating them both.

      • comment avatar Tijmen Stronks November 22, 2011

I think i should go for Sandro.
I have only (creative) attacking players (Ganso, Neymar, Chicharito, Willian) so I don’t need another creative player. But his stats are great!

  • comment avatar Mike November 23, 2011

Thanks for creating this profile! Future M’Vila looks insane. Seems his price changes minimally from start of the game to five years in given 25mil’s demanded at the start of the game and Man United paid 30 in 2016. I’ll probably buy him as an added luxury when I get Arsenal debt free with a huge cash surplus. :)

    • comment avatar Darren Smith November 24, 2011

No problem Mike, he does look solid as a rock and a nice luxury buy for sure.

  • comment avatar Martin K November 25, 2011

i paid 9 mil for him. with another 9 mill clause if he score 50 liga goals, which i think he never will. Its after season one.

    • comment avatar Darren Smith November 25, 2011

Bargain at that price, but he’d never go for that in the first season and I am only putting what players are available for from the games start.

  • comment avatar Martin K November 25, 2011

i know it wasnt the situation in my first run, but he was unhappy, bec his team was in 15th place. I really didnt plan to get him already, but for that price i had to go for it

    • comment avatar Darren Smith November 25, 2011

Couldn’t agree more mate, fantastic coup.

  • comment avatar Sixteen December 6, 2011

Is Moussa Sissoko a better player than him? Can I have the future profile of Moussa Sissoko? I’hv just signed him and looks good currently.

    • comment avatar Darren Smith December 6, 2011

Sissoko is not as good or better than M’Vila in my opinion. I’ll look into his profile for you though.

  • comment avatar Sixteen December 13, 2011

Hi Darren, is Moussa Sissoko’s future profile ready? Thanks mate.

    • comment avatar Darren Smith December 13, 2011

Sorry mate I forget to say…I looked deeper into his future profile and his attributes have hardly improved so until I find a save where he has actually made some strides forward I’ll be holding back. Sorry mate, was meant to say this a few days a go but got caught up and forgot.

  • comment avatar Toby Moore February 13, 2012

I call him mini-Tioté. This guys a beast, When United got interested in Tioté I used the transfer fee to sign Yann.

    • comment avatar Darren Smith February 13, 2012

Yeah he is fantastic and beats just about sums him up.

  • comment avatar Oleat March 19, 2012

how do you use him? on my save he only haves 7.06 in rating and he makes a lot of mistakes!!! (I am i season 2014/2015 and managing Liverpool)

    • comment avatar Darren Smith March 19, 2012

I haven’t used him, the screenshots shown are with the CPU’s management. I’d suggest that a player like M’Vila may not get great ratings as you should have a more attacking CM and wingers/forwards getting the assists, goals.

  • comment avatar Matt Skeer April 24, 2012

Do you think he could be developed just as effective as a CM?

    • comment avatar Darren Smith April 25, 2012

I do think he could be effective as an MC…for me personally he’d be more effective as MC because I struggle to make successful formations using a DMC…but he has the ability to be as effective in MC for anyone.

  • comment avatar Matt April 26, 2012

It would take 1 or 2 seasons but with the formation problem could you not use the Arsenal tactic but put the ball winning midfielder in DM and an anchor man role?

    • comment avatar Darren Smith April 26, 2012

No really I’m afraid, moving one of the CM’s to DMC changes the shape and dynamics of the tactic, its something I tried but led to worse performances and results.

  • comment avatar Tito May 19, 2012

i got him only for free because he’s out of contract at rennais, how luck i am

  • comment avatar Mark May 22, 2012

is he a lot better than Lucas Leiva?

    • comment avatar Darren Smith May 22, 2012

I wouldn’t say so no…Lucas is a very strong player in the future, just a little different really…if you prefer balzy BMW’s with strength then M’Vila’s your man though.

  • comment avatar Mark May 22, 2012

i’ve got fabregas and gourcuff in the midfield so i wanted defensive cover for them, who’d be better suited for that role?

  • comment avatar John June 13, 2012

Hi, I have the oppurtunity to sign M’vila for £13m because Rennes were relegated and he requested a transfer as a result. Is M’Vila a better FM player than Song (in an anchor man role in a traditional 4-3-3) and worth the money and the loss of a homegrown player?

    • comment avatar Darren Smith June 13, 2012

I think he is well worth signing and especially at that price…certainly better than Song.

  • comment avatar Ole Anders June 14, 2012

How do you use M’Vila as a CM? I tried to use him as a LCDM with Hamsik in CM and Eriksen as COM but that dont work offensiv. Should i use M’Vila as LCM ore should i use him behinde eriksen and hamsik in a 4-1-4-1 formation? ore should i use him as a LCM in a 4-2-3-1 formation? PS: I tried him in a 4-2-3-1 formation and he’s rating is only 7,08 :(.

    • comment avatar Darren Smith June 14, 2012

He isn’t a player that should score loads and assist, hence he will get low ratings as the players that get high ratings play key roles in goals, whereas M’Vila is used differently. Just put him anywhere in the middle as BWM and don’t expect massive ratings, the rating is irrelevant for such a player, just watch what he does for you in the match engine.

      • comment avatar Oleat June 14, 2012

Thax and i have an ”reply” who is the bes BWM in the whole game? I have L.Bender in the moment but wont M’vila ore is there a player who is better and at the same age?

        • comment avatar Darren Smith June 14, 2012

I’d say either Bender or M’Vila would be two of the best, Bender more for defensive technical or M’Vila for his physicality.

  • comment avatar topkop13 June 28, 2012

Hey Darren, this is more a question regarding rotation; I use Liverpool and have both Lucas and M’Vila as BWM plus Kara as a youth. I just noticed that I only played M’Vila for 19(1)/12[EPL] games last season which is too low I feel.

How do you go about rotating your players, particularly when you have youth players you want to develop as well? I try to have three per position (2 first xi + 1 youth/reserve) and tend to change every game (in a bid to keep conditioning/fitness high) and try and get the youth players to have least 15-20 (thanks for that tip from your other guides). But I feel like I’m not fully utilising my players — your thoughts? Many thanks in advance mate.

    • comment avatar Darren Smith June 28, 2012

All I do is rotate two players per position, one will play most of the league games while the other will play all cup and European matches, but if there’s a third player I use him in the cup matches leaving the second midfielder to play in Europe.

  • comment avatar Eoin Cowen July 3, 2012

I got him with Lyon in the 3rd season, him with kagawa and hamsik can be deadly…. he cost only 9 million when stade rennais got relegated.. hes still only 24 and his influence is 19!!

    • comment avatar Darren Smith July 3, 2012

Yeah on of the best CM’s available, and very well off mentally considering his age.

  • comment avatar Kevin July 17, 2012

Darren i’ve got a screenshot with wayyy better stats than this 2019 for yann m’vila, and im at year 2016. and the scary thing is he’z computer trained :S

    • comment avatar Darren Smith July 17, 2012

I’d like to see it if you take the screenshot, upload to imageshack or something similar and share the link here.

  • comment avatar Kevin July 17, 2012

sure np. but pardon my computer literacy lol, i kno how to get the screenshot but how do i make an image file out of it? i only know how to put the screenshot in microsoft word

Could he be played on DM as deep lying playmaker? :) Btw take a look at Lucas Andersen from Aalborg bk (AaB) he turns out really amazing!

    • comment avatar Darren Smith July 17, 2012

He could yes. As for Lucas, we have already looked at him but the future profiles I have aren’t quite good enough, probably due to CPU’s poor management maybe.

      • comment avatar Niclas July 24, 2012

If you are interested I can send you a profile of Lucas 3-4 years in to the game. He is quite good for me in barcelona! I wont be able to send it until the 30. thoug as i’m on vacation. Just tell me where to send it :)

        • comment avatar Darren Smith July 24, 2012

We can only use profiles that are 6 or more years into the game now I’m afraid.

  • comment avatar Kevin July 17, 2012

    ok i’ll do that

  • comment avatar Kevin July 17, 2012

Anytime Darren Thanks for tha mention!

  • comment avatar James August 7, 2012

Would he be a good anchor man Darren ?

    • comment avatar Darren Smith August 7, 2012

He could do that role well yes.

      • comment avatar James August 7, 2012

Off topic Darren, but in your opinion who would be the best young Deep Lying Forward ?

        • comment avatar Darren Smith August 8, 2012

I don’t use that role ever so can’t comment on what makes a great deep lying forward so I don’t know.

  • comment avatar Svan Relac August 13, 2012

could m vila be a good ball winning midfielder? i am looking for a solid player on that position. my options are javi martinez, kara, mvila or fellaini. any other suggestion or reccomendations?

    • comment avatar Svan Relac August 13, 2012

      or maybe kwadwo asamoah?

      • comment avatar Svan Relac August 13, 2012

i didnt see lars benders or svens benders profile here. those guys look solid!

        • comment avatar Darren Smith August 13, 2012

Those players are very good but we tend to profile the less obvious options first and slowly do the ones most know about.

      • comment avatar Darren Smith August 13, 2012

M’Vila could certainly do a job as ball winning midfielder, it would be between him and Kara though Kara would also do very well as CB so may be best there.

Who’d you choose for an anchor man? Sandro or M’vila?
And for a Ball winning midfielder?

    Sandro costs 10M and M’vila 13M

    • comment avatar Darren Smith August 31, 2012

Either, it depends on your style of tactic and which you prefer.
