Xherdan Shaqiri’s career history until 2019

This FM 2012 player profile of Xherdan Shaqiri shows the wingers explosive side. As you can see he has excellent pace, flair, acceleration and dribbling but seems to lack a few fundamental attributes such as crossing and finishing. In fact it is these two attributes alone that stop Shaqiri been rated as 8.5/10….but having said that many gamers commented offering their experience and it would seem those low attribute areas are not a worry. Either way you’ll have to wait a while to sign this kid as FC Bayern have already agreed a contract.

Best buy rating: 8/10

I can’t help but notice that he spent 2 seasons at Almeria, I may be mistaken but I don’t think they have the proper facilities to house and groom a talent like Shaqiri. Look at Piatti in RL…He’s struggling for a regular place at Valencia when at Almeria he was the king of the hill. Surely, that could hamper Shaqiri. Still, I bought him in my Juve Save after my friend’s advice. Let’s hope for the best.

    • comment avatar Darren Smith December 4, 2011

I agree with that but also remember first team football can do more good than training facilities and coaches, this guy must be played or he won’t ever reach his potential.

      • comment avatar N.Loureiro December 4, 2011

I agree with what you say. So far I have played 10 (5 of them games since my comment) so far in the league and he has scored 6 goals and provided 3 or 4 others. I play him as an inside forward with attack duty. so far, 1st place and Shaqiri is the joint top-scorer with Forlan and Cavani.

  • comment avatar Wilko December 4, 2011

In my Arsenal save he is class, his crossing and finishing are the main problem but been working on both and got his crossing up to 14 and finishing 13 and still only 22 so to me he is class

    • comment avatar Darren Smith December 4, 2011

Yeah sounds like you’ll have his problem areas upto a great standard in 1-2 years, I think with good management he’d be very good.

  • comment avatar Wilko December 4, 2011

Yeah I am hoping he will get better. He is setting more goals up now then he was last year. Darren is it possible to do a Toni Kroos profile? I have him as one of my 3 centre midfielder’s and just want to see how much he would improve

    • comment avatar Darren Smith December 4, 2011

Yeah I’ll try and do Kroos soon, he’s certainly a talent.

  • comment avatar Jake December 4, 2011

Darren can you do a marco reus profile I just wanted to see if he improved.

  • comment avatar Jimmy December 5, 2011

Bought him when I was a Chelsea. Very good but he was a rather inconsistent player.

P.S. Darren, could you do a Adam Campbell of Newcastle U-19. Looks like he has potential. Cheers

    • comment avatar Darren Smith December 5, 2011

Thanks for the info. As an avid toon fan I have kept check on Campbell but he never really hits any highs I’m afraid…not really worth signing.

  • comment avatar johny December 6, 2011

he class in my milan game…

  • comment avatar Chonger December 8, 2011

Adam Cambell just scored against me and I was man city with hummels and kompany…in the first season! That surely must mean his worth something. Shaqiri is a GREAT buy for 9 m!

    • comment avatar Darren Smith December 8, 2011

I’m afraid he doesn’t develop well….Campbell I mean, he does look quite talented and any youngster can have one good performance but don’t be deceived as there’s a lot better players out there. Xherdan does look good though, I haven’t bought him as yet because of his crossing and finishing which I require but have heard good things.

      • comment avatar RJ December 12, 2011

Agreed, I had Adam Campbell on loan for my AFC Wimbledon save on the second season in League 1 and got him for free transfer afterwards. Used as a starter for 3 seasons but still can’t develop into a quality player. Scores around 10-15 goals in less than 30 apps even in league 1 and rather inconsistent

        • comment avatar Darren Smith December 12, 2011

Glad I’m not the only one that sees this guy as overrated. I’m a huge toon fan and he’s not had a mention in RL so its appropriate that SI haven’t made him that great.

  • comment avatar mario December 9, 2011

little offtopic but is it possible for young player to burn out and not reach his PA if he’s standard first team player?I think I read that somewhere

    • comment avatar Darren Smith December 9, 2011

I guess it could be feasible but when you say burn out I think the better term is go stale, in other words they grow so quick so fast that when it stops you think they’d burned out when in reality they have just slowed their growth and taking longer to hit that potential. Personally I don’t believe in this folk law though, its just bad man management unless particular players have an attitude problem etc.

I’d say Hulk if you can afford him.

  • comment avatar pereira January 31, 2012

probably more 24 million coming on jannuary

  • comment avatar pereira January 31, 2012

hmm ok i will see that beacause made an offer by hazard – 30 million more some future money and they accpeted. i probably with the 24 million i will try to sign hulk to aml . but saurez is really making a great on that position

    • comment avatar Darren Smith February 2, 2012

It depends on how your team is playing and many other factors. I can’t answer your question really but the team looks good for the future with those signings that are waiting to join.

  • comment avatar pereira February 2, 2012

ok ty and i will try hulk for the right wing because i only have sterling for that postion.

  • comment avatar Dan Lloyd February 3, 2012

I bought Shaqiri for Newcastle after 6 months and he cost me around £6.5 million. I found him to be one of the best buys on the game, and within his first 6 months, he managed to score around 10 goals, and at the beginning of the next season, from right wing, he was keeping up with Ben Arfa and Demba Ba on the scoring charts, so I disagree with what you said about him being poor at finishing.

    • comment avatar Darren Smith February 3, 2012

When I mentioned his finishing I didn’t say he can’t finish, I said that a few attributes let him down and finishing is one of them (as he has 11 in that area.) I didn’t say he can’t finish as Hazard has the same attribute yet he scored 20+ goals a season for me…what I mean is that his finishing and crossing aren’t as good as his pace and dribbling etc. But glad to hear he has scored many for yourself as you never know which way a low attribute such as finishing can go. Sometimes other attributes make up for it (which seems to be the case here), but other times it can prevent them from doing so well in front of goal.

  • comment avatar Joe Owen March 13, 2012

Just as you have said, he doesn’t look like a outstanding goal scorer however he is just like hazard. I bought him in my QPR save and in the first season 2011-2012 he was amazing, 34 apps 14 goals 16 assists along with 9 MOM. Just want to add that i bought papiss cisse in the first season as well and was simply amazing 25 apps 16 goals, was also injured in that for a month or 2.

    • comment avatar Darren Smith March 13, 2012

Thanks for the info, seems like a lot of peps have had success when buying Shaqiri for lower teams so certainly good for mid-table from the off.

  • comment avatar Joe Owen March 14, 2012

Also i have Niang on the left wing as inside forward i know this is not his best position, however he is the best currently and is performing well.

  • comment avatar Joe Owen March 14, 2012

Sorry to be posting left right and center, was just wondering if anyone has had either marco reus or andre schurrle, was going to buy one but no idea which is better. They both score lots in my game and are more or less the same but schurrle is 2 years younger?

    • comment avatar Darren Smith March 14, 2012

Schurrle is a very good signing but I haven’t used Reus so can’t comment on him I’m afraid.

  • comment avatar James Mclachlan April 4, 2012

I have schurrle for my Sunderland save and he is immense. I play him LM with jack rodwell inside as MC always results in a cheeky one-two through the defence and schurrle slotting home. Also he is quite competent with his headers and could quite easily be retrained as a striker.

    • comment avatar Darren Smith April 4, 2012

Does look like he can develop well but I’m yet to see the CPU raise him to a good enough level, when I have a good enough future profile I’ll do the report but not got one as yet.
