Willian’s career history until 2019

This FM 2012 player profile of Willian shows just how versatile the Brazilian really is. His pace, dribbling, crossing and flair suggest a perfect winger…but further inspection shows the 23 year old is best suited to the AMC position. No matter where you play this kid he is dangerous and would be a threat within any team in the World. The asking price of £10.5 million is just crazy, I honestly can’t believe he is available for such a minimal fee…my must buy if you’re after an instant impact but also one that could last 7 or 8 seasons.

Best buy rating: 9.5/10

Hey Darren, can you advise on how to get the best out of rooney? hernandez scores for fun, with willian providing the bullets but i cant say the same for mr rooney? i worked his composure, played him as a target man, poacher and complete forward to no avail.if u could sell him i would cos he is a waste

    • comment avatar Darren Smith December 8, 2011

Yeah I’m with you on this one. I have him with my England squad in 2016 and he is a pain tbh. I’d recommend playing him as deep lying forward with support duty or defensive forward…that should make more use of his passing range and link up play resulting in an improved all round performance, but you can only do this with a 4-4-2 in my opinion.

      • comment avatar Lee August 21, 2012

I prefer asap changing Rooney to either a CM or AM his goal scoring ability isnt great but his passing and work rate make him great in midfield :)

fuck me fuck me ….. pohhhh

    • comment avatar Darren Smith December 9, 2011

I know he’s good but try and keep the language clean please :) (I assume that is where you were going with this?)

  • comment avatar Bernard Abang December 9, 2011

Thank you Darren, I have to say your guide on players is awesome. Thanx to you I found Willian. Ndiaye dont work for me though despite training and game time. Am going to use Rooney as my 3rd choice striker and get Leandro Damiao to partner Hernandez (Target and Poacher). Cant decide on Badelj or M’Villa though

    • comment avatar Darren Smith December 10, 2011

Thanks Bernard, appreciate the kind words. Willian is an absolute bargain and as for the dilemma between Badelj and M’Vila I can confirm M’Vila as a better player but Badelj does reach a very high level…I bought him for less than £4 million then sold him five seasons later for around £26 million. Think of Badelj as more technically gifted and M’Vila as having more of a physical presence. It depends on what sort of player you’re looking for.

Willian develops everything you need from a winger to a world-class level. His dribbling skills are godly and so is his crossing. The only problem I’m having with him is that everytime his AMR possition gets the status of ‘natural’ and I stop coaching him on it, it reverts to ‘accomplished’ almost immediately. He’s my main winger and certainly gets the playtime, I’m not sure where the problem is.

One thing I honestly love about him is his teamwork. He always seems to look for players to pass or centre, which can’t be said about Menez or Nene, my other 2 wingers. He’s not getting as many goals but is more of an assist machine. And I’d take a goal from my striker over that of my winger anytime (unless you train him to score that is)

    • comment avatar Darren Smith January 14, 2012

He is probably one of my favorite players in FM 2012, a real talent.

  • comment avatar Erik Zilinskas January 17, 2012

In my opinion Willian is one of the best wingers in the game despite the AMC being his natural position, the amount of pace he has is just insane, when he starts running with the ball few defenders in the world can catch him and a lot of his other stats are amazing too, he is a good team player (thats unusual for brazilians lol) and his technique is great. I have bought him for my Newcastle and the impact was instant, scored lot of goals and did a lot of assists, my attack (Willian, Ba, Eriksen, Ben Arfa) is destroying all teams in England lol (and sorry for my bad english, i’m from Brazil).

    • comment avatar Darren Smith January 17, 2012

Willian is amazing and teamed alongside Eriksen should prove deadly.

  • comment avatar Calum January 21, 2012

I got Willian for my Porto team in summer of the first season, latest patch, for £7.75m

He has been great, I play a tactic with inside forwards, so he plays on the left and I have him training for finishing.

I have great coaches, but his progress has been amazing.

It is now only December and his dribbling is 18, finishing 14, passing 16, lots of mental stats are up this month as well as acceleration and pace.

I am training jamez rodriguez the same on the other side with hulk up front.

In 9 games willian has 4 goals and 5 assists, incredible for under 8m.

And in the champions league he has 5 games, 2 goals and 3 assists. Best player for the value in the game imo

    • comment avatar Calum January 21, 2012

And apparently chelsea bid 20m for him today

    • comment avatar Darren Smith January 21, 2012

I agree Calum, he certainly seems like a player you’d pay £25 million plus for so to get him under £8 million is incredible.

Hey Darren, you got an awesome website, very helful, but I got a problem with my FM12: using the Search function I found Willian playing for Corinthians (2011) not for Shakhtar, and I don’t find players like Vaclav Kadlec, Kara and others I still didn’t look for. I got the patch 12.0.2 installed, have you got any idea what’s wrong with my game?

  • comment avatar Valeriu Crainic January 24, 2012

Darren, I think my situation is a search bug, because just some moments ago I found the Willian in the profile photo playing for FCP, I guess there’s something glitchy with the search.

    • comment avatar Darren Smith January 24, 2012

Yeah sounds like an issue with your search but I don’t know why players aren’t showing up all together. Just make sure you have a medium database loaded as opposed to small.

  • comment avatar falto January 25, 2012

    yeah, seems like kaka’s successor

  • comment avatar falto January 25, 2012

btw, can u show more players in future years like piazon or firmino ? especially firmino, seems a great playmaker prospect for me…

fyi u can see complete wonderkid list here…

    • comment avatar Darren Smith January 25, 2012

Piazon is not good enough and firmino is someone I’ll keep tabs on as I have too many profiles to do so can’t take anymore requests at the mo.

I can’t thank you enough for setting up this site and showing me these players, especially this one. İ play him as an inside forward on the left and he can’t stop scoring/assisting. My Liverpool team has him on the left, Suarez and Sanogo up front, and I’m training Sterling to play on the right. When they are all developed I think it will be a deadly attack. Do you have any advice on how to get Sterling’s stats up? I’ve been starting him in the first team and using him as a sub, should I loan him out when he’s old enough?

    • comment avatar Darren Smith April 16, 2012

You’re welcome Jack, I’m glad the site has helped. As for Sterling you should be able to develop him well enough as long as he’s getting around 15 games a season for first three seasons then up it from there…if not then loan him out to a club that will see him as a valuable first team member.

      • comment avatar Jack April 20, 2012

Thanks, Sterling is developing very fast. It’s April 2012, he’s 17, and his dribbling is already 16. Sonogo’s playing well but he’s not developing as fast, he’s 19 and his finnishing and dribbling are both 13, though his physical attributes have come a long way. Is he not developing fast enough or is that normal? I’m new to this whole “wonderkids” thing.

        • comment avatar Darren Smith April 20, 2012

I’d say that Sanogo needs to develop faster than what you’ve mentioned. Be sure to play him as often as possible and maybe train him inidvidually on his finishing and dribbling switching the two every two months.

  • comment avatar StellaRossa May 17, 2012

Am playing with Chelsea, just started 4th season, and Willian is my captain now:)
Bought him in first season for 10mil euros, and in first season he scored betwen 25-30 goals(and other 2 seasons, 20+ goals, and bunch of assits), I play him as AMR all the time, never been as AMC or AML.

I highly recommend Willian, to any team u start to lead.

  • comment avatar StellaRossa May 17, 2012

and forgot to say that his price jumped from 10mil I paid for him, to 25mil euros ;D

    • comment avatar Darren Smith May 17, 2012

Fantastic record and this guy is one of my favorite players…just wish I’d signed him before going to the lower leagues.

  • comment avatar Jamie June 9, 2012

He is by far the best signing i done an for value is unreal 10/10

  • comment avatar Jamie Griffiths June 10, 2012

Just started a game with Arsenal and he refuses to enter discussions with my club. What should I do to get him to sign? Same problem with Raheem Sterling

    • comment avatar Darren Smith June 10, 2012

There is nothing you can do I’m afraid, just wait until they want to move.

  • comment avatar gshinhar June 15, 2012

i must say. this is by far the best scouting site absoulotly amazing……….

anyway i wanted to ask who is better as CM-attack? willian or oscar from internacional? money isnt the problem………

    • comment avatar Darren Smith June 15, 2012

Thanks mate, I’m glad the site can help.

As for the CM query, I personally prefer Willian for his technical ability.

  • comment avatar Benn June 15, 2012

Im in quite a big dilemma here. Im about to start my 3rd season with Juventus, and I don’t know who to buy. I want a left wing and I prefer a left footed, but James Rodriguez and Di Maria won’t talk and I don’t like Hulk. I decided to try with an inside forward. I can get Hazard for 30M, Muniain for 26M or Willian for 15M. Who would you choose? I leaning towards Willian as he is a lot cheaper. Would Muniain and Hazard prove better later on or is Willian good enough? Also, if you know any world class left footed wingers, I’d love to know. Or any other suggestions for that matter.

    • comment avatar Darren Smith June 15, 2012

I’d say Willian is more than good enough, he will be brilliant in that role. Hazard may develop to be better but not by the value you’ll be paying.

  • comment avatar Jones June 28, 2012

I hope you can help me choose between James Rodriguez and Willian I am on my first season with Roma and i will get them for the same price, I probably gonna use him as a AMC but maybe I use him as a winger

  • comment avatar Commiebear October 9, 2012

Got Willian for my Arsenal side the very first season. Ended up playing close to 40 games and collecting 20+ goals and 20+ assists. Absolutely beastly. Having said that, i do play a very attacking formation – two wingers and a lone striker, and either a CAM with 2 MCs or a much deeper trio of midfielders with a DMC depending on the match.

I play Willian on the left wing as IF or the right wing as W. As an IF he consistently cuts inside and unleashes a curving shot for the far corner. Having said that, this new season he is going to be primarily on the right wing, as i have Douglas Costa coming in to take over on the left side :).

    • comment avatar Darren Smith October 9, 2012

That is one hell of a scoring and assist rate, Costa will also blow competition out of the water, with Willian’s genius ability and Costa’s set pieces and finishing defenders won’t know whats hit them.

      • comment avatar Commiebear October 9, 2012

I am hoping for the best. I did notice that Willian is more effective as an IF coming in from the left rather than playing on the right. But, i do have full confidence in him adjusting well, especially as i have a more of a link-up striker coming through the ranks to replace RVP.

  • comment avatar Kevin May 21, 2013

I got amazing stats on Willian better than whats here. At the same age 30 too. But i know fm13 is out i dont know if you’d still like to see them.

    • comment avatar Darren Smith May 21, 2013

Thanks for the info, as mentioned though we are not adjusting profiles or lists from FM12 now as there is a lot to do for FM13.
