This FM 2012 player profile of Nicolas Nkoulou shows the defenders pure power. I for one love players with raw strength and physical ability, so Nkoulou would be my ideal purchase. I think the wonderkids would be best applied from a defensive midfield position or even central midfield with ball winning role but Nkoulou can also be adapted for center back. At just £10 million this guy could make a huge difference at any level for a very tidy price.

Best buy rating: 8.5/10

wow..he became a defensive rock in just 5years. amazing and what’s more he stayed in OM. Imagine if he had gone to bigger clubs. anyway its nice to know i’m not the only one who prefers these type of players over more technical ones. Hope u continue posting:D

Thanks mate, I am a big fan of players like Nkoulou, physical attributes can make a player far better than he actually is (look at Walcott for instance.) I also agree that he could improve further when bought by a big club, quite an exciting player all in all.

darren what do you thing about francis coquelin dmc from arsenal? in my opinion the kid as both mental and physical attributes but it lacks a bit in the tatical but nothing that train and first team couldn´t resolve.

    • comment avatar Darren Smith January 9, 2012

He is a good player and anyone with good physical and mental attributes can get his technique to a decent standard. I wouldn’t say he’s world class but worthy of a top four team maybe.

ok ty . i will see how far this kid can go

hi darren you talked about walcott , the kid iss good or just like coquelin ?

    • comment avatar Darren Smith January 10, 2012

He is good but his lack of technique and mental attributes mean there are others to prefer.

So, Darren, I have a question. What do you think of Podolski as a player. Not just FM but also RL. I always feel that he is too talented and physically designed to play as a striker at a top club but he lacks the mental structure that Wayne Rooney, for example, has. somehow I think that he is only truly growing as a footballer now and if he keeps it up he might get another shot at the top. I’d like to hear your opinion, if it’s possible and not too bothersome.

To be honest I don’t see much German football so not sure on his talents…he looks pretty good on FM but I have heard people say he’s not as good as he’d appear.

In my Koln save he has scored 51 goals – in the Bundesliga alone, granted it’s still the first season and no European football – which makes him responsible for at the very least 60% of my teams goal haul. The second placed of the competition is Gomez with a “mere” 36 goals.

I am in second place waiting for Bayern to slip with 3 games to go.

He needs play as a poacher in a 2 forwards system, though.

Yeah that says it all, its the same with every single player on the game. One person can think they’re over rated while not using the player correctly while another gamer thinks the players god because they get everything spot on.

          • comment avatar N.Loureiro January 12, 2012

Still, because he is at Koln, Poldi will not be considered for the Ballon D’Or…it’s one aspect of the game that I think it’s biased towards the Messis, Ronaldos, Schweinis and Robbens who ply their trades at higher tier teams.

          • comment avatar Darren Smith January 12, 2012

But there’s two sides to the coin there, I personally believe RL football is even more biased especially in terms of awards. I hear what you’re saying but I couldn’t see any player form such a club winning the Ballon D’Or in real life so it could be based around reputation in game to represent real life.

Well, Neymar was nominated in the 23 man short list last year. And Santos had been sailing in still waters for almost 7 years before his emergence. And in my opinion you have wonderful players like Hulk or Moutinho (both majestic last season and certainly up there among the best the World had to offer) were not considered just because they either play in Portugal, don’t have a flashy hair style or do not do fancy stuff with the ball (Like Moutinho). If not for Neymar and Ganso, Santos would be no bigger than Koln are. And in the game this is well reflected as neither were nominated for the award either. Only players from the highly rated teams.

The game still features a short-list of thirty players contending for the award. So long as he (Poldi) is nominated then I will be happy. I have been comparing him to other players in the top leagues – the ones most likely to rack up nominees – and Poldi still beats them by a long shot. Ronaldo, Messi, Robben or Rooney aren’t even near his level in my save.

I am not saying Podolski is god or anything but in that save he is the best at what he does.

As for the bias in RL. True story, I couldn’t agree more.

    • comment avatar Darren Smith January 13, 2012

Yeah I think the shortlist is very fair in the game as I got a lot of my Malaga players involved in it.

I bought N’kolou and he has been a real rock in central defence. I use him as ball playing defender and he plays well every time. It’s now 2014 in my game and he is my captain and exceeded 3.5 star potential and is at 4. Bargain for £10 million. (im arsenal)

    • comment avatar Darren Smith April 3, 2012

Yeah he is an absolute beast, I haven’t signed him yet but always hate seeing him on the opponents team sheet.

  • comment avatar Rui Meireles June 10, 2012

Nkoulou in my save is so much better than this… and was the computer who made him much better, not me.

    • comment avatar Darren Smith June 10, 2012

If he’s much better than we’d like a screenshot of his ‘overview’ ‘profile’ and ‘career history’ if its too hand.
