Milan Badelj’s career history until 2015

Every year we find those hidden gems, the players that are special and available for a bargain! Well I think this years special one could be Milan Badelj, the Croatian can play almost any role in midfield but is best suited to be an advanced playmaker. Just look at the screenshots above for proof of his potential. Within 5 seasons this wonderkid can pass like a pro and dictates the tempo of a match. £3.6 million is a snap for such talent and you can more than quadruple your investment within two seasons.

Best buy rating: 9.5/10

Hey mate, is it possible to sign him at the start of the game? Benfica seem to get him in all my games no matter how crazy I contract I offer him..

    • comment avatar Darren Smith January 2, 2012

It should be, I signed him with Malaga offering around 10,000 more than he wanted.

  • comment avatar Heresy January 18, 2012

I wonder if you could convert him to CM/DLP support duty. From the screen at the age of 22, i can see he might be best employed on attack duty, but he also has nice ‘defensive’ and ‘linking’ stats. He will never be the most creative player out there or the best in technical skills, but i do believe he is or can be made into one of the best ‘jack of all trades’ midfielder.

Darren How well does Aaron Ramsey and Kwadwo Asamoah turn out Thanks

    • comment avatar Darren Smith January 21, 2012

Both very good players indeed, but Ramsey is almost unsignable due to the asking price…I’d have both in almost any team.

      • comment avatar Chris Spaull January 21, 2012

is there a chance of you doing a future profile of Asamoah

        • comment avatar chris spaull January 21, 2012

And who do you thinks better sing or asamoah

        • comment avatar Darren Smith January 21, 2012

Not for a while I’m afraid, I have like 10 others to do first so will revisit the subject when my desk is clearer so to speak.

      • comment avatar Nick Jones March 16, 2012

Ramsey is the only player starting with -10 potential i think. Amazing!

      • comment avatar Luciano March 12, 2013

i got ramsey on my borusia dormund on 2014/15 season at only 6m… he was reserve at arsenal (who has a great squad, with hulk as star player) so i get him on loan first, after some decent performances i made a 6m offer cuz it was his market price, to check how expensive this guy was, and they accepted it :P it was a nice bergain

Okay thanks anyway and carry on the good work

  • comment avatar Heresy January 28, 2012

What a player. He’s a defensive playmaker in my team and even though his tackling never goes beyond 12 (spent 1 whole year training tackling and nothing….), his positioning and general intelligence allow him to intercept passes like a pro. The future profile doesn’t do him justice. Darren, you need to find a better one! And also, I’d give him a 10/10 for the price and for being amazing and versatile assist machine.

    • comment avatar Darren Smith January 28, 2012

Yeah he can develop beyond the screenshot shown but only with human management of which I am missing a screenshot.

  • comment avatar Heresy March 21, 2012

New game, I coached him on his passing as soon as I could this time and left the physicals alone. After 2 seasons he has 20 passing and 17 creativity. Now he only needs a bit of stamina, agility and maybe composure :) By far my most solid player, never lets me down.

Is probably best suited for Advanced Playmaker, c ertainly would score a lot more, but as a CM with suport duty and main playmaker role, he has an influence in all areas of the game, just doesn’t always get the rating to reflect that.

  • comment avatar Adam April 12, 2012

Check this guy Mobi Okoli. He is total bargain at only 20 k.Just 20 k for such a player.Perfect for lower league teams. I think he definitly deserves profile here.

    • comment avatar Darren Smith April 12, 2012

Sorry he is not visible in any of my saves to check.

  • comment avatar Prime Time April 15, 2012

Badelj was my favorite mc pre-12.2. I had him on several saves and his development was amazing every single time. It didn’t even matter what you played him as, CM-support/attack, DLP, AP, B2B, he did it all. I feel he got hit pretty hard in 12.2 but all in all he is still decent but nowhere near what he was pre-update. Too bad but probably realistic.

    • comment avatar Darren Smith April 15, 2012

I don’t think he’s dropped that much from 12.1 to 12.2, but just my take on it.

  • comment avatar Jack May 8, 2012

He looks like a great way to make money if you’re managing a smaller club, you could do what SLB did in Badelj’s transfer history.

    • comment avatar Darren Smith May 8, 2012

He certainly is, I got around four amazing years from him then sold him off for more than £25 million, he’s a no brainer in my opinion.

  • comment avatar Dwight June 17, 2012

Why the board say. the fans expecting the buy of badelj is poor signing?? i played manchester united. can you tell me why Mister?

and can you tell me Man Utd legend who became staff??

    • comment avatar Darren Smith June 17, 2012

I can’t, the fans obviously feel he isn’t good enough for the club, but I’d ignore them. I’m not sure on the second question.

  • comment avatar Han July 13, 2012

The profit you’ll make from this guy is insane.

I’m in my second season with liverpool. I’ve gotten badelj and vrsaljko right in the first season, and man, badelj performed so well in the first season for me; man city came in with an offer of £28.5m (bought him for £6m) at the start of the second season!!

    • comment avatar Darren Smith July 14, 2012

Yeah even if you’re not that keen on his style, bare with him for a few years and the cash to make is excellent…I did similar with Badelj during my Malaga save.

  • comment avatar James July 31, 2012

Would he be suitable for a box-to-box role ? If so, which 2 out of these 3 would you pick for a BBM role ? Badelj, M’vila or Fellaini

    • comment avatar Darren Smith August 1, 2012

He could be yes, maybe more suited to deep lying playmaker or CM support duty. But our of those players I’d go for M’Vila and Fellaini purely for their physical prowess.

This site is awesome! Been playing fm for years and only just come across it. The work you put in is amazeing and much appreciated. Enough gushing on to business. I play a 3 man midfield 1 dlp and 2 b2b mids, I’m looking for another b2b to make an instant impact. I play a high attacking line so my b2b mid spend most of the time in the hole or ops area. Hamsik is to pricey, could this fella do a job or do you have any other little gems to recommend? Ta

    • comment avatar Darren Smith August 24, 2012

I’d probably recommend the likes of Costa and Willian for box to box as an alternative to the likes of Badelj and Berolacci.

  • comment avatar Kenny September 13, 2012

hey i was wondering how did his determination stat go up, i was told the only way it goes up is by tutoring and u cant tutor him at the beginning so how does it go up am i missing something? lol

    • comment avatar Darren Smith September 13, 2012

Not sure, it could be that the first screenshot is from patch 12.2 whereas the future screenshot is from an earlier patch.
