This FM 2012 player profile of Andrea Poli shows one of the best playmakers FM 2012 has to offer. Poli could be used in a rotational system for almost any team straight away, but the best part comes once he’s fully developed. As you can see from the future profile above, Poli becomes a pass master with excellent creativity and vision just like Xabi Alonso. You could sit him in the middle of the pitch and just funnel all your attacks through the Italian. Poli starts the game on loan with Inter so you can’t bid straight away, but he rarely signs for the Italian giants and could sign for around £3 million come 2012. This makes him a must buy in my opinion.

Best buy rating: 9/10

Wow, he really is good. He reminds me very much of Badelj. So if you can’t sign the Croatian (FCP or some other club scooped him up), get Poli. His teamwork and workrate may not be outstanding but I bet he does the job anyway :)

I agree, he is very similar to Badelj and a superb signing.

Wow. I bought him in my second season as Arsenal for £2.6 million. Only problem now is my midfield’s packed with youngsters in desperate need of development like Ramsey, Wilshere, Badelj, Kovacic, Poli and Canales. If not for such a competitive midfield right now, Poli would’ve made my first team in front of the fully developed Arteta no problem! Great profile.

He is great and that midfield seems to be packed with quality, sure you can find room for everyone once the older players leave.

How did his determination get to 16? He cant be tutored at any point because he turns 22 whilst on loan at Inter and you cant tutor a loaned player (I dont think) and i dont think it can go up without tutoring?

Ive got a thing about only buying very determined players, looks absolutely top class, just a case of waiting til he goes back to Sampdoria :)

Only Pedro could say whether Poli’s determination was as low as 12 during the start of his game…he is in the top screenshot but that isn’t to say he was with Pedro’s game…but I have seen determination go up and down without a player been tutored.

Hey Darren, any tips on Poli’s best position? I’m usually sticking him in the central midfield two alongside a ball-winning midfielder (in 4231).

Been experimenting with a lot of roles for him, but he never seems to get a decent game. Average rating just above 6.5, and even against lower sides he can’t seem to have a good game. Advanced playmaker with either support of attack doesn’t work in my case. Neither does central midfielder – support. Is it because I’ve got another player assigned for the playmaker role (I’ve got Hazard or Mata)?
    Thanks in advance!

I reckon Poli works best as a deep lying playmaker with support duty and that should suit your tactic too. But just remember its incredibly rare to have more than one midfielder get a good rating in a game unless they score, that is just how CM’s work.

Good point Darren it’s usually the playmaker gets higher rating i discovered that in fm10 when i have Gourcuff & Verrati Usually one high other low rating !!!

Hi Darren , I poorly need a creative cm Badelj & kovacic went to big clubs , unfortunately Poli price in my save + 10 M pounds so what’s your advice , i could get Granero for free
Also Could you recommend a right winger who is already good to play (not potential) even if he isn’t youn i am sorry for many questions & for my bad english

I need to know your budget first and I can’t recommend if you are more than a season into the game.

First of all, great work with all these profiles!

I’m looking for two future CM stars for my Porto squad. I’m going for Poli, but I’m having trouble deciding about the second one. It’s either Bertolacci as a free transfer with wages around 12k, or Verratti for 1.3M with wages around 4k.

I’m planning to play Moutinho and Poli as starters, with one of the others rotating with them from time to time. Who would you go for?

    • comment avatar Darren Smith May 7, 2012

I would go for Verratti but in fairness they are both very close so probably best to use your gut feeling.

      • comment avatar sikava May 7, 2012

Yeah, I could o for both though. But I don’t want to over-crowd that position, since I also have Danilo who I think will be a decent player (?).

I’m also thinking about Albin Ekdal, his stats look really good in the profile.

        • comment avatar Darren Smith May 7, 2012

I think settling on Verratti would probably be best.

    any tips for poli role??

    • comment avatar Darren Smith August 4, 2012

I’d go for deep lying playmaker but as always you should never change a role around a player but change a player around a role.
