This FM 2012 Championship Player Profile of Darwin Quintero does the striker no justice. I have heard gamers rave about this guy, some say he scores more than a goal a game, while others say he helped them lift the Europa League trophy seasons after promotion. One things for sure, Quintero can grow beyond the screenshots above and is the must buy player for any Championship side. Your stumbling block is a £2.6 million asking price and £13K a week wage demands, but get over them and you have the best striker any Championship side could buy. I think he’s worth the outlay purely from hearing gamers say he can play at the top level too.

Best buy rating: 9.5/10

First season managing Sunderland, and Quintero does work like a charm. He finished as the top scorer of the league, scoring 30 goals for 32 starting matches. Several clubs wants him for 8-10mil after the 1st season but i want to test him on the second one. A really goal machine who can make an instant impact.

I also suggest Mushaga Bakenga, Norwegian youngster who can score the same as Darwin Quintero. This guy is only available if Norway league is playable in the game save.

Sounds like he was a beast for you….unfortunately we can’t profile the other guy as he breaks our rules for who can be done due to loading the Norwegian league.

I am really interested in signing him for Southampton and I have tried 3 times in my first season. however he has failed to gain a work permit. Yet on all of the message boards people say that you will have no problem in getting a work permit for him!? why cant I?

    • comment avatar Darren Smith May 31, 2012

I don’t know to be honest, you should be able to get him. Unless you are playing with an older patch of the game, then he may not be so easy to sign.

unstoppable! 29 goals in 26 games in the league and 46 goals overall!!

He certainly will be in Scotland, could also be very good in the EPL under correct condition’s.

why cant i find him on my game? i have a medium database and all of europes main leagues loaded do i have to have the mexican league loaded?

    • comment avatar Darren Smith July 22, 2012

You need a large database loaded for him.

  • comment avatar Kieren Amand July 25, 2012

Signed him for West Ham and he managed to score 36 goals in 32 Champ games. This lad is unstoppable and a great signing for the Champ. Now lets see how he does in the Prem!

    • comment avatar Darren Smith July 25, 2012

I have heard is does exceptionally well with the right team in the EPL also.

  • comment avatar reece robinson July 30, 2012

Turned out mediocre in my save only scoring 9-14 goals per season in the epl even when playing him in his preferred position.

    • comment avatar Darren Smith July 30, 2012

This is a Championship profile, he is phenomenal at that level and can be good in the EPL if managed correctly.

  • comment avatar Kenny August 2, 2012

this guy is a goal scoring freak, i bought him at southampton and he scored 46 goals in one season in all competitions which beat our club record for goals in a season which has been broken since 1960, plus the scary thing is, just when u think after promotion he wont be as good, he proves u wrong, scoring 31 goals in the season, he is amazing and clubs are raving for his signature, but i am not letting him go, unless i get a really good offer.

I’d like screenshots of his overview profile and career stats if you have them.

  • comment avatar i August 3, 2012

AN ABSOLUTE BEAST!!!!!!!!!!!!! 55 goals in 40 league appearances with southampton in the championsip and echoed the same in the EPL!!!!!!!!!! every save is almost exactly the same with him!!! a demi-god

    • comment avatar Darren Smith August 4, 2012

Yeah he is great, may not walk into the EPL first season and dominate but can after a season in the Championship once settled.

  • comment avatar muzi August 6, 2012

i played him as a poacher with agirretxte(i think) as a targetman support. he scored 60 goals in 46 matches and 5 16 assists while agi scored 19 with 22 assist. i honnestly couldnt believe my eyes.

    • comment avatar Darren Smith August 6, 2012

Thats a very impressive record and many others seem to enjoy his success too.

  • comment avatar C Dog September 3, 2012

I’ve just bought him for Wolves in the championship after he banged them in for Southampton for the computer. I’ll let you know how he does.

    • comment avatar Darren Smith September 4, 2012

He should work wonders provided you use him correctly.

      • comment avatar C Dog September 4, 2012

He started off quite slowly on the goal scoring front but chipped in a few assists. He’s now hit the ground running and has scored 14 goals in 18 games. Certainly proves to be worth the price!

  • comment avatar Jack McD September 4, 2012

How would you recommend he is played Darren? I usually play one upfront don’t know whether he’ll suit that or not and maybe he is better with a TM as support.

    • comment avatar Darren Smith September 4, 2012

Well I wouldn’t know from personal experience as I never signed Qunitero, but if I had I’d use him as poacher in my lone striker tactic.

  • comment avatar robert-Romania October 2, 2012

i bought quintero for 3 million at blackpool , npower championship scorin 80 goals in the league , i won the fa cup and the comunity shield , in the first league he scores 42 goals , rooney next with 36 and in my third season he s leading the score charts with 25 goals in 18 matches helping me to be in 4 in the english premiership with blackpool.i use him in a 4 1 2 3 system

    • comment avatar Darren Smith October 2, 2012

Sorry I got lost when you mentioned having Rooney with Blackpool, assume it can’t be Wayne as its impossible for Blackpool to increase in stature enough within 2 seasons to sign him, not to mention the wage cap.

  • comment avatar robert-Romania October 5, 2012

i mean that quintero scored 42 and wayne rooney at manchester scored 36

    • comment avatar Darren Smith October 5, 2012

That makes a lot more sense, just cements how good a season he had.
