FM 2011 player profile – David Alaba
written by Nicholas Phipps
Position: Central Midfielder
Club: Bayern Munich (starts the game on a season long loan at Hoffenheim)
Price tag: 8,000,000
David Alaba is a good talent and apart from his aerial attributes is a decent well rounded player. He starts off as a central midfielder but can easily be retrained into an attacking midfielder due to his relative lack of defensive attributes. He can be brought for a reasonable price and has a large amount of room to improve. He is a fast, creative player who can be deployed best as a playmaker or as a trequartista. He already has international experience and is already a decent buy. Despite not being among the cream of the crop for young central midfielders (Lucas, Sissoko, Eriksen, Canales etc.) he is still a solid buy and a very good player to have on any team.
Karembu gets this spot on. He is a determined player who is very athleic and although his aerial ability is poor, that can be improved. The 4 star potential rating might actually be a bit too much but it still emphasizes one fact: Alaba has the potential to be a very good player, who can put in a performance for any team!
At the age of 22, Alaba has already matured into a great player and is a key player for club and country. He has made great progress with his physical and creative attributes, and he’s still only 22! Now we can start to see why Karembu’s 4 star rating is justified, as he has made incredible improvements. If you have enough money, Alaba is a very solid buy
Alaba in real life:
David Alaba made 5 appearences for Bayern Munich 2 seasons ago, and last season he joined Hoffenheim on loan, where he played a large number of games. He has recently broken into the Austrian full side, where he has played 8 times. He continues to be a very bright prospect.
My overall best buy rating: 8.5/10
