FM 2011 player profile – Erick Torres

Club: Chivas (United States)
Price tag: £1.9M (Patch 11.3)
I don’t think many have heard of him, but the Mexican Torres has bags of potential at such a young age. Again like with many strikers, his speed underlines his natural ability which means that when you get him as a youngster, you can concentrate on his technical abilities. The scouts report below is from Arsenal’s Cagigao and shows what Torres could become.
Here, Cagigao compares him to world class Arsenal midfielder Cesc Fabregas. Now for a £1.9M investment in this lad, you can have a player that has the potential to play at a similar level? If I was a manager, I would snap your hand off! The only real weakness is his aerial ability, to which I can understand. But if your going to be playing him as a poacher, I wouldn’t see why it would matter? Also notice that he needs a work permit which may restrict you if you’re an English club.
Worth a cool £15M now after his £28M move to Bayern, Torres has really made a name for himself in Germany with average ratings around the 7.4 mark every season. He has improved a vast amount in the 8 years, and has excellent all round abilities meaning he can make that attacking midfield/striker role his own. You will not find a real player for less than £1.9M with as much ability as Torres has, and if you can get him to fill even half of his potential you will surely be in for a great surprise with a staggeringly large profit to boot. If you need a cheap striking alternative, you would be bonkers to look any where else.
My Best Buy Rating: 9/10
